#1 Day of Gary Halbert's Challenge
I started this challenge by reading the first books on the recommendation list:
I had already read Scientific Advertising and finished 7 Steps to Freedom just yesterday, as it's quite short.
I wrote a review about the book Scientific Advertising on my blog, which you can check out by clicking the button below:
So far, I'm enjoying the letters Gary wrote to his son while he was in prison.
It's kind of crazy to think about the discipline and focus he had even while imprisoned.
What I find most interesting about the letters is that there are many lessons that go beyond marketing and business.
He talks a lot about routine, health, nutrition, exercise, life philosophies, and personal thoughts.
I really liked the advice he gave about waking up early and going for a walk before doing anything else in your day.
This helps me a lot to think and deal with my anxiety.
The few chapters I read from Gary's letters inspired me to bring more focus to my newsletter.
To bring a more intimate air and not just content about copywriting and business, but about my learnings and professional evolutions.
The first day of this challenge gave me numerous ideas for products and projects that I want to start developing and about how important it is to have long-term ideas.
I think this becomes increasingly important nowadays, where social networks make us lose our sense of time.
Tomorrow I plan to start the second day of this challenge by advancing more on the practical side of things and writing some classic copies by hand.
I'll be back with more news soon.
To finish today's newsletter, I would like to leave an excerpt from one of Gary's letters that inspired me the most so far and made me reflect a lot.
I think it can help you too:

When someone asks me what is the #1 big secret to making money I tell them they should get involved in whatever excites them the most.
This is good advice. Money, in my opinion, especially big money, is most often a by product of enthusiasm.
If a person, secretly in his heart, wants to be an architect, he shouldn't go into selling real estate, for example, just because he has heard that that is where the money is.
This made me reflect a lot on where I am today.
What I'm doing, what I work with, and where I want to go.
I've been reflecting for some time about changing direction and correcting my course, simply because I don't feel entirely happy doing what I do.
It's not that I don't like working with marketing or copywriting, I do.
But I entered this market, like many, out of a thirst for money.
And today, honestly, money is no longer enough to motivate me.
It's as if I need a bigger reason, something that excites me and makes me believe in what I'm doing.
And I've been seeking that.
Call it purpose or whatever.
I haven't found that "something" yet that makes my eyes shine and my heart beat faster.
I don't know exactly where it should be.
I know that when I find it, I'll know.
The lesson of this first day of the challenge is about enthusiasm.
Find something that excites me enough so I can keep going.
