#1: Breaking Through AI Paralysis: Why Waiting for the ‘Right Time’ is Holding You Back
Welcome to the First Edition of Actionable AI Insights
The goal of this newsletter is simple: inspire action and help you get real value from AI, whether you’re an intern or an executive. Every week, we’ll share practical insights and strategies designed to build your knowledge, skills and confidence—so you can make AI work for your business.
AI isn’t hard to use, but maximising its value takes experimentation, learning, and a willingness to try things out. If you find this helpful, share it with friends and colleagues who are navigating the same challenges.
What You Can Expect:
If there’s something specific you’d like to see covered, just reach out! And if you’re looking for more personalised support, schedule a free discovery call to figure out where AI can deliver value for your organisation.
This Week's Tip:
Use AI to Help You Learn AI: Choose a small task for AI to help with. After getting the result, ask,
“What additional information or context could I have shared to improve this response?”
You might be surprised by the answer, as well as how providing that information improves the quality of the response! We are so used to asking humans to complete tasks, we forget all the knowledge required to do it well, but AI tools can be good at reminding you.
This skill of communicating the right information and context to get the best result is one of the biggest easy wins I see when training people to use AI, and it's still something I use all the time.
Stop Waiting for the “Right Time” to Use AI: Start Small, Start Now
Too many businesses are holding off on AI because they think it’s going to require a massive overhaul or disrupt their current projects. Maybe they’re waiting until next year when things are “less busy” (are they ever?) or feel like they need to finish up other technical initiatives first. Or perhaps it just seems too complicated to integrate right now.
But here’s the reality:
AI doesn’t have to be disruptive. It’s not an all-or-nothing initiative—it’s a tool that can slot into your existing workflows and create value immediately...
whether that value is saving time, growing sales, or generating new insights. The biggest mistake companies make is waiting until they feel perfectly ready, letting opportunities slip by.
The term “artificial intelligence” can sound intimidating and overly technical, like something that requires months of planning, heavy investment, and expert knowledge. But AI today is more accessible than ever, with some of the most advanced models available for as little as £20/month. You can start using it right now, even for simple tasks like speeding up content creation, automating small processes, or generating quick data insights.
Why Start Small?
Because AI is just a new tool—one that’s already changing how businesses operate. The key is to start small, experiment, and build on what works. Success doesn’t come from waiting for some “ideal” time; it comes from incremental learning and quick wins that show real value without disrupting your day-to-day operations.
Even if your organisation is pursuing larger generative AI projects, starting small in parallel can build value across the business. Quick wins aren’t a substitute for bigger initiatives; they complement them by delivering immediate benefits while accelerating learning and adoption across teams. Each small experiment helps you develop the knowledge and skills needed to make those larger projects more effective, creating a foundation that drives value at every level of the organisation.

Turning AI into a Strategic Advantage
The companies that succeed with AI aren’t waiting for perfect readiness. They’re testing small, practical use cases, adapting quickly, and letting those early results guide their next steps. Every quick win, whether it’s reducing repetitive tasks or accelerating decision-making, lays the groundwork for larger, more strategic opportunities down the line. They aren’t waiting for someone else to build a tool that fits their exact use case—they’re learning to leverage AI in novel ways to stay ahead and competitive.
The reality is that the AI space is changing and evolving incredibly fast, if you spend 6 months creating the perfect plan, by the time it's ready it won't be relevant, and those are 6 months you could have been building value with AI.
So, don’t let AI become something you’ll “get to later” when you have more time or more resources. The best way to build your AI strategy is to start using AI now—not by planning a massive initiative, but by integrating it into your current workflows, even in small ways.
This Week’s Prompts:
Talk to Your Team: Ask around to see if anyone is already experimenting with AI. What tools are they finding useful? Where are they hitting roadblocks? What workflows and tasks is it helping with?
Experiment: Try using AI for a new task you haven't tried before. From ideation and strategy, to writing and data analysis. Choose something you know well, and see how well you can get it to perform.
Key Takeaway?
The best time to start was yesterday; the next best time is today. Experiment, learn, and let the results shape your path forward. AI doesn’t have to be a massive project—just a new tool that can deliver value, even if you only have a few minutes to explore.
