Bruton Knowles is advising on major projects in the East of England

Bruton Knowles is now advising on major projects in the East of England with a combined value of more than £1 billion.

A huge shout out to the specialists from our National Utilities & Infrastructure Team, now working on delivering National Grid's Bramford to Twinstead Pylon Reinforcement project (part of the Great Grid Upgrade and one of only 17 projects proposed across the UK), Network Rail 's new Cambridge South station (connecting the Biomedical campus with central London, airports and links to Europe), Greater Cambridge Partnership's Cambridge South East Transport (CSET) busway (easing congestion and improving links to new housing planned) and supporting UK Power Networks (UKPN) in its work in maintaining the electricity networks across London, the South East and East of England.

And a new Bruton Knowles hub opened in Bury St Edmunds, ready for a growing team and clients.

It caps an excellent period of growth for our teams and clients across the East of England - and long way it continue!

Congrats to Island Green Power

We'd like to extend our congratulations to our client, Island Green Power , which has secured planning consent for the Cottam Solar Project from the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband.

The Cottam Solar Project, based between Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, will become the UK’s largest solar farm generating 600 MWac of clean, renewable, and secure energy. It also includes a 600 MW battery for storing excess energy - a crucial element for helping the National Grid achieve Net Zero.

Our Bruton Knowles National Utilities and Infrastructure Team played a pivotal role in the negotiations with the cable route landowners, and are thrilled to have supported the securing of this significant milestone for renewable energy in the UK.

Nigel Billingsley reacts to UK Government's commitment to clean energy

Nigel Billingsley, Partner at Bruton Knowles

We caught up with Partner and Head of National Utilities & Infrastructure for the North, Nigel Billingsley regarding the UK Government's historic commitment to clean, affordable energy!

Following the news of funding having been awarded to 131 new green infrastructure projects, this marks a major milestone on the path to the UK becoming a global clean energy superpower.

Key highlights include:

  • Offshore wind farm projects get the green light
  • Record-breaking solar developments
  • World’s largest floating offshore wind farm underway.

Nigel says this will ignite opportunities across Britain’s industrial heartlands and rural communities, boosting green growth nationwide:

“This announcement from the Government to committing to a record pipeline of clean energy projects is a landmark achievement.

“As chartered surveyors, we are at the forefront of supporting these infrastructure developments, ensuring that they not only meet regulatory standards but also deliver tangible benefits to local communities and the economy at large.

“The positive impact of these projects on the rural economy will be felt, with the expansion of renewable energy creating numerous opportunities across Britain’s industrial heartlands and rural communities. The beauty of this announcement is that the ripple effects will be felt nationwide, fostering green economic growth from the Scottish Highlands to the Suffolk coast.”
