1% Better: Consistent Small Efforts leads to Massive Growth

“Small, smart, consistent choices over a period of time lead to massive results” is a concept that is truly life-altering. Explained in the book “The Compound Effect,” Darren Hardy highlighted how small choices, made consistently can compound into massive results. The key factor here is ‘consistency.’ We often start taking small actions, but don’t do them every day or consistently.
When I read this book, I initially applied this concept to my finances. I tracked every penny for a few months and realized that I was saving a lot by being mindful of the smallest expenses.
It’s the 1% growth we talk about- just pushing ourselves 1% harder at the task we wish to master or be successful in. Even with my clients, all athletes want to be successful, and often seek quick success, but barely go beyond the minimum standard. They do the minimums while expecting maximums. But you will agree that all the GOAT’s in sport didn’t stop at minimums, they consistently did more than stipulated. Maybe just 1% more.
As a simple task, I asked one of my athletes to just do 1% extra every day. It could be as simple as doing one extra push-up in every set or holding a body weight plank for 5 extra secs. Later, he realised how simple yet impactful this concept was for his growth to the next level.
Benefits:
Pushing ourselves just 1% extra can not only compound into massive results- something that drives most of us- but it stretches our mental endurance and helps us tolerate the discomfort of growth, thus making us resilient.
These small actions, choices and habits can lead to small rewards that act as motivators to future actions. This enhances our self-belief and fosters optimism in the journey of change and growth. ?

2 周Great advice, I too realised only relatively recently how consistency is key :) something I say to my clients: small is big (with regards to consistency with the short term goals). Love the work you are doing by spreading awareness??
