1 August - Celebrating Global-Swissness
empowermefirst.college
We are an NGO focusing on empowering youths through education based in Switzerland.
We are wishing everyone in Switzerland and all Swiss abroad a happy national day with bright, beautiful horizon for a future based on some of our fundamental values such as equality, freedom, independence - free access to quality education as the foundation of innovation, entrepreneurship and change.
News from the board
Flexibility, reflection and excellence are also amongst the values of empowermefirst, a global movement founded and registered in Switzerland. In our last board meeting we have decided on a few changes to be able to scale up.
While two of our members, Dr. med. vet Susanne Meier and Conium Nyathi, have stepped down due to overwhelming professional responsibilities, we are very happy to welcome three new board members, who have been long term members of empowermefirst: Dr. Evangelia Vogiatzaki (sustainability), Helen Furner (treasurer), Musa Unene (people and talent development) will serve as members of the board alongside of long standing board members Chris Aeppli (vice-president), Brigitte Koch (president).
Celebrating our partnerships team
As we are celebrating our values, we also want to introduce to you three very dynamic members of our partnerships team who with their positive spirit, ideas and expertise are helping to create partnerships, awareness and help with fundraising.
I joined empowernefirst because I am passionate about making education accessible for everyone, especially those who face significant barriers. With a background in sustainability studies, I see a strong link between education and sustainability. Empowering students through education opens up endless opportunities and creates lasting positive change in communities. Being part of this team allows me to blend my expertise in sustainability with my commitment to transformative education, making a real difference in people's lives. I am excited to contribute to a mission that not only changes individual lives but also fosters stronger, more resilient communities.
I decided to volunteer for empowermefirst because I am involved with kids and teenagers teaching them Spanish, English and Portuguese and I feel that we can make a huge impact on their lives inspiring and motivating them to achieve their goals and finding their ways. I am originally from Brazil, background in accounting, currently living in Netherlands, studying marketing and working on the side with young kids and events.
I believe that with my background and motivation I am able to help the organisation to improve and continue making a wonderful impact on the community of students that needs support. I am looking forward to contribute with the team doing the best I can to find partnerships and resources for our cause.

I am originally from Syria, I have background in Psychology and Biology and now I am on my 4th year medical studies.I live in Spain and I am very interested in public health and health education.
Public health strives to fight inequality and provide opportunities to all, which is why I was drawn to Empowermefirst. I am excited to be part of a mission that aims to give others a chance at achieving their goals, regardless of where they started from.
I also feel fortunate to be surrounded by such a diverse team and to learn from their unique perspectives and ideas.
