1 + 1 = 3
As we continue to navigate the disruption of COVID 19 and the ever changing pressures placed on unpredictable consumer patterns, collaboration and common goals trump transactional relationships every time.
Recently the industry has seen a number of locations closed due to non-essential status. One such customer was left with 130+ containers encroaching demurrage, resulting in redirection to a location serviced by Young Guns. Initially, the overflow work was planned to be completed by labor however due to poor productivity Young Guns were engaged to complete.
Outcomes like these are common place in our high performance teams model. Critical to this is our onsite leader (Captain) Alex. His role is to partner with the customer to plan and create a winning environments with the customer and achieve partnership outcomes (1+1=3). This included key items such as;
- Several different unpack processes utilising the full array of Young Guns engineered tools, identifying over 1.46 man hours of waste in the process
- Implementing Safety processes to eliminate 90% of MHE and Personnel interaction
- Implemented a fully trained and supervised afternoon shift within 12 hours notice
- Increased daily capacity by 400% vs customer labor
The current costings for the demurrage of containers ranging from $200 - $430 per container daily, planning and execution became critical to damage control of the bottom line.
