We did a detailed analysis and uncovered some fascinating insights.

Here are some of the key takeaways:

  • A significant reduction in 'massively viral' TikToks: The number of videos achieving over 10 million views peaked in February 2022 and has been declining ever since, halving by April 2023.
  • A slight, but not statistically significant, decrease in average views: The decline in average views for videos with 10K+ and 100K+ views does not qualify as a statistical outlier, suggesting the situation isn't as alarming as it might seem.
  • There's been a shift to a slower 'slow burn' model: Many creators have reported their content takes longer to hit the FYP. The data suggests TikTok's algorithm may have switched to a slower, longer growth arc.
