TikTok's Triumphant Trifecta: How AI, Education, and Commerce Converge
TikTok's CEO, Shou Chew, recently had a conversation with Ted's founder, Chris Anderson and revealed some fascinating insights into TikTok's rise and future plans. While the interview is well worth the watch, I've pulled out some key highlights below:
AI
They're actively working on new AI technology to take creativity to the next level. Chew envisions a future where people and AI collaborate to create even more mind-blowing content. "I think there's going to be a collaboration between people and AI where they can unleash their creativity in a different way," said Chew.
EDUCATION
TikTok's CEO, Shou Chew, revealed that users are turning to the platform for learning everything from cooking tips, science, STEM content, and even book recommendations. In the words of Chew himself, "People are learning how to cook, people are learning about science, people are learning how to golf."

COMMERCE
TikTok is also more than just a platform for entertainment. Five million US businesses are already taking advantage of TikTok's reach, and that number is only expected to grow. Chew points out that "This could be products, this could be commerce, five million businesses in the US benefit from TikTok today."
"Cash me on TV, how 'bout that?" Just call me Bhad Brendie ??
I recently had the fortune of appearing on an episode of Dr Phil. It aired last week and in case you aren't sitting around watching TV in the middle of the day you can watch the episode in the link above.
Shockingly, I didn't say anything as catchy as the infamous Bhad Bhabie. Nor did I have any shocking secrets or confessions to make (at least not on national television).
During the show we discussed the de-influencing trend. This is where content creators encourage people not to buy products and often call out creators who promote expensive goods that people don't need or can't afford.
I had a blast and don't think I made a total fool of myself. That said, feel free to lmk if you think otherwise. ??
1 - Question
WES ANDERSON GOES STAR WARS? Not really a question so much as a statement. But, holy crap this has to be the greatest TikTok from the #wesanderson trend that I've ever seen. It was too good to not share.
If you've been following ?the trend? (which has racked up 800+ million views), what's your favorite so far?
My team and I are responsible for some of the most viewed organic VFX viral campaigns (reaching the 100's million’s of views) for powerhouses like Meta, Google, Amazon, and more prestigious brands.
1 年Great insight Brendan! It will be interesting to see if the de-influencing trend sticks around or if it will fade out.
