For example, in Sub-Saharan Africa, women and girls walk long distances to collect firewood, which puts them at risk of sexual assault, and the smoke from burning wood can cause respiratory diseases. By investing in renewable energy, women can access clean energy solutions that improve their health and safety, freeing up time for education, entrepreneurship, and other opportunities.
