06: Don't be a Plumber
The advent of generative AI has started a gold rush. Behaviours, often diverge from the intended hypothesis and the trend with the rise of generative AI has been no different. While a large section of people have begun playing with these tools, a bigger chunk have started fearing the possibility that their jobs may be replaced by AI.
The solution most people can think of - pivot to coding. Learn the language of the new world and hope you are invited to be a citizen of the new AI country. But teaching everyone to code is like saying that everyone should become a plumber.
If everyone becomes a plumber (learns to code) we will lose out on the people from the humanities and business, the perspectives that they bring, the patterns they can observe and their thought process to problem solving. So instead double down on your circle of competence, attain mastery of your subject and emerge as a formidable thought leader that shapes the AI rather than getting shaped by one.
