#042 The One with Google Breakup

For AI overview answers, Google needs forum discussion, so it made a deal with Reddit. Users see Reddit on the SERP; in return, Google uses the content to train the LLM. With the HCU update, small publishers were killed to make space for AI overview and Reddit. However, it's nothing new; Google and SEO evolve regularly. That's why marketers have to keep upgrading their skills regularly. The concept stays the same, but the microenvironment and execution strategies keep changing.

One small way publishers can battle Google is by not providing information in a structured format. Do not add any schema to the blog posts. Let Google use its technology, which we know it has, to figure out which part of the blog post is FAQ, which is the recipe, and which is the product. It's the harakiri approach to the fight.
