007 Walk (Don't Run) Toward Your Goals Everyday

Every time you sit behind the wheel of your car to go somewhere, you head in the right direction right away. You either know where you are going because you mapped it out in your head, or you have an app guiding you along the way. Every mile you drive gets you a mile closer to your destination.?

Goal realization is exactly the same. Every day you want to make progress toward the realization of them. Goals are fickle things. They are either something you really want in your life and you program your entire existence to become the new version of yourself, or they are fantasies of a life you will never live. There really isn’t much middle ground for this one.??

We are programmed to be who we are in the world in which?we live. This is the primary reason most people will fall short of reaching their full potential. It’s also a really lame excuse. Regardless, when your life started, you were born with unlimited potential. The day your lungs filled with their first breath, your unlimited potential lay in front of you. But your potential was harnessed every minute of every day following that day.??

Your environment is why you are where you are today.??

This is why it is so hard to distinguish between real goals and fantasies.??

I like to guide my clients through an exercise I call Your Everest Life. This creates a vision of a new life for the client and they have no idea how to achieve that life. It seems unthinkable at the time of writing it all down, almost fantastical. Then, we reverse engineer the dream and create a real plan to achieve it. From there, we distill the plan down to a 12-month action plan.? Sounds like fun, right????

Let’s dive into what the process of goal realization?involves. It really is far easier than it’s made out to be (there is a process). But do not misunderstand, it will take a lot of work to rewire your thinking to make progress. There is no silver bullet. There is not easy way. There is no quick fix. But with daily attention, you have the potential to tap into the unlimited potential you were born with.???

Take small steps daily to get closer?

Schedule time every day to work on your goals. It should be the same time each day so you build a routine around actions that build a better life. When you start in on this process, use 960 Prime Sprints to help you build your focus If one of your goals is to write a book, then you need to write 1000 words every day. If it is to launch a business, then you need to follow a basic framework to create success right out of the gate.??

Work on one item every day to achieve progress daily. You can work on one or two more action items, but your dedicated hour should have one primary focused action item. (Important note: if you are launching a side business and have a full-time job, do not dilute your value at your job until you are making enough money to replace your salary.)? All of this work needs to happen outside of your daily activities. This is where the work part comes in...?

Keep track of your progress (you can’t manage what you don’t measure)?

My clients and I use the 960 Momentum Journal System to stay on track. As a whole, the journal is a 13-week tool to build quarterly milestones, the plan to complete them, and daily snapshot of what to get done to make it a reality. Otherwise, it is important to have KPIs. Salespeople know exactly how many prospects they need to talk to everyday to get the number of meetings to make the requisite number of sales. Manufacturing companies know how many widgets they need to produce every day to meet their revenue and profit targets. You need to build a predictable system for using your day.??

Track Your Progress?

Here are a few things you can use a checklist to track:?

-Wake up time (same as every day)?

-Workout?

-Meal prep?

-Journal?

-Marketing posts on Social Media?

-Top One to Three Completion?

-Evening Routine?

-Go to sleep (Same as every day)?

It would be easy to go through the day and check the boxes. But would you know if you are actually on track to your goals? Would you know if you are actually effective? Here are some ways to measure effectiveness:?

-Social Media Post Interactions (what’s working, what’s not)?

-New inbound prospects (From a Source)?

-Number of booked calls?

-Number of miles walked per week ?

-Conversion rate?

-Number of times my daughter laughed with me today?

I threw the last one in to see if you’re paying attention... Not really. It is just as important to focus your attention outside of work as it is to focus on the growth of your business. What good does it do you to have an awesome business and a horrible life. Or even the other way around. Your business and your life need to fold in together and provide you with the joy, happiness, and contentment to jump out of bed every single day and go spread your energy across the world.??

It is easy to get caught up in the business of making money. But it is more important to make money working in your wheelhouse. You will sell better. You will message better. You will prospect better. You will Utilize Your Time better.??
