006 Find your own way – Be Unique to Be Powerful

No two people are the same. Despite this, many businesses are built in the shadow of another that looks the same. The business world is now saturated with competition. But in a sea of same, it is possible to stand out. Each business owner needs to uncover and specialize in his or her specific, unique, super-power.?

Recently, I was asked about my super-power. Why should someone work with me instead of another coach. My answer is why you should continue to read this newsletter as well.??

I am uniquely qualified to help people use their time not only because of my education and experience but because I have an ability to get to the heart of why people are not accomplishing what they want quickly. Not getting your work done? I can see why. Not building amazing relationships? I can see how. Not spending enough time working out? I can find the minutes required. I have overcome the constraints personally and I have helped dozens of people do the same.?

It starts with focus?

Time is your most important asset. It is critical that you focus your attention on using it to the maximum each and every day in order to live the life you want. There are only so many minutes in each day to grow your business, live independently, nurture amazing relationships, have a healthy body, stimulate your mind, find your next customer, attract amazing people into your world, uncover your next favorite food, take in a new experience, and actually live the life you want. There are no second chances or do overs. Today is the most important day in your quest to live a fulfilled life.?

In your unique, you are powerful?

When you spend time doing what others do, you end up creating a business focused only on making money. The primary issue with this is that you will burn out. This type of business will have you chasing the next dollar each and every day. Will it work? Sure. If you feed the engine with enough energy, you can always make it work. But what about the days that all you want to do is sleep a little longer? You will not find the reason to dip into the tank and find the power to motivate yourself to get up.?

In your unique you are independent. You are resilient. You get up every day because: of course you do. There is nothing more important than getting your message to the world. You no longer have a business built on a foundation of hustle economics. You have a business built on purpose. Your super-power is the reason. Your super-power is your vehicle. It is your drive.???

You appeal to a specific client base?

When you are in the super-power zone, it resonates with your target audience. This forces you to spend your time profitably working only on what matters to move the needle. The hustle economics are replaced with purpose economics. Your message flows easier. You tap into a reservoir of clients that you did not know existed. This client base needs exactly what you are providing. Some will only use your free content to change their lives. Others will use your inexpensive products. Others can’t wait to pay a premium for your help. It doesn’t matter because you are helping the masses achieve a specific purpose.??

How do you uncover your unique super-power??

This is the long part. Or not. It may go quickly for you. To do this, sit down with a piece of paper and a pen. Write out all the skills you have. Write all the passions you have. Write all the things you do that make you happy. Write all the problems you solve. Write it all out.?

Then, go through the list and cross off common skills. If your neighbor can do it, mark it off. If more than five people you know possess the skill, mark it off. Distill this list down to what you know that others do not. You should end up with a list of 2-5 items. Note that not all of your items will be 100% unique to you, but the combination of all of your items will be. I would expect one or two will mirror another person, but no way will all five.??

This combination is your super-power. Next up, is creating a purpose statement that will enable you to apply your super-power to a specific client base.?

What to do with it next?

Start by taking the information you uncovered and creating your narrative. This will start with a Definite Purpose Statement that reads like this:?

My Definite Purpose is to: ______________________ (Problem you solve)?

By providing: ___________________________ (Product and/or service)?

To: _________________________ (Your audience size and demographic)?

Then draft it into a narrative. You can see my example at the footer of this newsletter. It is important that you write it out. It will not do you any good in your head. It is a unique tool to use in your marketing as it will help you find the words to create content, sales language, additional products and services, and help you get out of bed when the noise is too loud and deafening in your head. It will make your self-doubt voice acquiesce to your ambitions and allow you to move to the next level in your quest.?

It is easy to get caught up in the business of making money. But it is more important to make money working in your wheelhouse. You will sell better. You will message better. You will prospect better. You will Utilize Your Time better.??
