#004: How I stopped comparing and started winning

A few months ago, I hit a major milestone in my weight-training journey.

I achieved a personal best on my pull-ups.?

Shortly after, I came across a post from another athlete who had started training around the same time as me.?

They had:

• Impressive lifting stats.
• Been featured in fitness magazines.
• Secured sponsorship deals.

Their accomplishments made mine seem insignificant in comparison…

However, I later heard that:

This athlete was facing a serious injury.?

This changed my view—showing that their seemingly flawless progress came with its own set of hidden struggles.

From Gym to Business

When I launched my business, I faced similar feelings.?

The launch felt like a victory after months of preparation.

But then I saw another entrepreneur…

He was getting large investments and major media attention.

My excitement was overshadowed by doubt again.

However, I remembered the lesson from my fitness journey:

Success stories often have hidden challenges.?

I later discovered that:?

This entrepreneur was involved in a legal battle over stolen intellectual property.?

My envy dissolved, replaced by empathy.

Shifting Perspective

We often only see the curated highlight reels of others' lives.?

The struggles and setbacks are carefully tucked away.?

This shifted my perspective.

Leading me to feel gratitude for my own journey.?

I began to view comparisons differently.

Approaching it with compassion rather than letting it diminish my own success.

By shifting from comparison to gratitude…

I discovered that joy isn't diminished by others' achievements.?

Instead, it's improved by appreciating our own unique experiences.?

Joy isn't out of reach—it's in the everyday moments and personal victories that make our paths special.

The Key Takeaway

Comparison doesn't have to steal your joy.

For your unique path, it can lead to:

• Compassion.
• Bringing clarity.
• Perspective.
• And gratitude…?

Now, when I catch myself in the comparison trap, I remind myself this:

Every success story has its hidden struggles.?

Instead of letting it take away my joy, I focus on what's going right in my own journey.

I didn’t have any flashy investments or major media attention.

But I had something just as valuable:?

• Freedom.
• Stability.
• And the ability to grow my business at my own pace.
