Today's first edition is a little different as I wanted to start off by sharing my personal career story...

Now, let’s get to it!

I've struggled with the traditional advice to "pick one thing and become the best at it."?

When my friends and family members ask what I do, I'm often at a loss.??

I have so many interests—writing, design, marketing, product, business, health, fitness—you name it.?

So the idea of sticking to one career path feels suffocating.

For years, I felt broken, battling myself and avoiding personal branding on LinkedIn because I didn't fit into a neat little box.?

In social settings, I'd nervously list my various roles: content creator, helping health and wellness brands, customer success, technical support, project manager, executive operations manager...?

Then I'd joke about not sleeping much, feeling embarrassed about my lack of clear focus.

But something clicked. I realised being interested in multiple things isn't a flaw—it's who I am. I'm multi-passionate, juggling a business, projects, and passions simultaneously.?

And if you’re like me…

We don't fit into conventional career paths, and we don't want to.

But let’s be real—it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.?

Managing several projects at once isn’t easy, and I’ve learned some tough lessons along the way.?

Here're a few lessons:

1. Finding clarity by doing

Being multi-passionate can feel chaotic.?

With so many interests, it's easy to feel scattered.?

But thriving is possible—it just takes self-acceptance and strategic planning.

I realised I needed to stop overthinking and start acting.?

Instead of staying in my head, I began experimenting and learning through doing.?

That's when clarity came.?

The more I engaged with my passions, the better I understood which ones resonated and how they fit together.

2. Don’t be afraid to pivot?

For years, I thrived in corporate healthcare.?

I'm super passionate about it. The impact suited me, but I felt confined, unable to explore all my passions. The grind—long hours, commuting, endless meetings—wore me down. I craved flexibility and autonomy.

Since then, I've pivoted to remote work with:?

  • Health coaches, trainers and creators
  • eCommerce brands
  • SaaS and EdTech companies

Now, I'm building a marketing agency for beauty, health and wellness business owners. It's been a journey of embracing every part of who I am, even when it didn’t fit into a neat little box.

3. Embracing change as a constant companion

If there's one thing I've learned as a multi-passionate person, it's that change is inevitable—and that's a good thing!?

Your passions may evolve over time, and that's perfectly okay.?

When I moved from corporate healthcare to remote work, I wasn't just changing careers—I was embracing who I was becoming.?

Each shift allowed me to explore new skills and bring unique value to every team and roles.

4. Leveraging your diverse skill set

One of the greatest strengths of being multi-passionate is the diverse skill set you build.?

Every pivot adds a tool to your toolbox, making you a powerhouse.?

My experience in SaaS??

It taught me the importance of scalability and efficiency, which I now apply to the marketing strategies I create for health and wellness entrepreneurs.?

My background in eCommerce??

It honed my understanding of consumer behavior and online marketing, which is invaluable when designing campaigns.

So, instead of feeling scattered, start recognising how each of your skills interconnects and strengthens your overall expertise.

5.? I can’t do it all alone

As much as I’d love to be Wonder Woman, the truth is, I couldn’t do what I do without the amazing people around me.?

From my supportive parents and siblings to the incredible team helping me deliver on Behind Wellness's projects—I’ve learned that collaboration is key.

6. Time is a precious resource

We all have the same 24 hours, and I’ve had to get creative with time management.?

Batching tasks and chunking time has become my secret weapon to juggle multiple projects.

7. Learning to say no

This was a tough one. I’ve definitely been my own worst enemy by taking on too much.

Learning to say no has been a game-changer for maintaining my sanity and staying focused on what really matters.

8. Self-care isn’t optional

I might joke about not sleeping much, but after my personal trainer helped me rethink this differently and embrace recovery without feeling guilty (I do strength training 4 times per week, and I have to make sure I get 7-8 hours of sleep!).?

Previously, I burnt out and have been working hard on this for the last 2 years.?

Setting boundaries, especially around weekends, has become essential to keeping myself healthy and energised.

9. Embracing who I am

The biggest lesson??

It’s okay to be a multi-passionate person. I’ve stopped hiding and started embracing all the things I do. I don’t need to fit into a single career box, and that’s perfectly fine.

Looking Ahead

Being multi-passionate isn’t for everyone, and that’s what makes the world interesting.?

Next time you see me posting about different projects, know that I’m driven, ambitious, and powered by my many passions.

This is me, fully embracing who I am ??I'm obsessed about building a portfolio career with a mix of business, projects, and passions, so I’ll also be sharing what I learn along the way.

Now, I’d love to hear your thoughts—what are you passionate about? Drop me a comment or message, and let’s chat!

Stay tuned for more!

Congrats on launching your newsletter! It's refreshing to see someone embrace their multi-passionate nature instead of trying to fit into a predetermined mold.

Hi Samara, I struggle with the multi-passions too and trying to establish a web site with an ‘About’ section was the hardest thing. I look forward to sharing your thoughts and reading your introduction, eventually I thought perhaps it’s better to embrace it all and not be embarassed. Am I scatter brain, a light weight up start or are the multi-passionate among the polymaths of history and contemporary society? So much depends on the slant placed upon it.
