0 sales 0 clicks: Let's find the way out with colleagues

0 sales 0 clicks: Let's find the way out with colleagues

Imagine the situation: a person launches an advertisement and receives absolutely no reactions. He spends money, looks for approaches, but nothing works. A forum user shared such a sad story, and the community tried to help him. And we at Aff1.com analyzed the advice and can draw our own conclusion.

So, user KnownMess3604 posted this “cry from the heart” on Reddit:

“Hello, please help! I am a portrait photographer and quite new to ads. This time I tested an existing reel on my page to a traffic campaign and it got clicks and views to my page, the cpc was $.42 so I put the same ad in sales campaign, the same audience and reel. My daily budget is $15 , and cpc states $2.It's been running for almost 2 days and 0 clicks to my website and 0 sales. What am I doing wrong? Should I turn it off ? Or should I leave it for days for the algorithm? How can I market better way? i am soo lost , I need bookings. Any suggestions?”

Commentators' opinions were divided:

Run messenger campaigns for people to message you, traffic is definitely useless for this case

Josvieeaf

Well, I'd suggest you to go Meta ads library and see what kind of ads your competitor is running. Take inspiration from other niches which is kinda relates to your industry. Maybe restaurants, food product etc

Btw, what is your campaign goal?

KnownMess3604

Thank you for suggestions, my competitors are running the same type of ads. I tried photos and reels too but nothing works. My goal was to get some bookings for my services

Josvieeaf

It's not the type of ads, its about how you're selling your story. Take a look at it one more time. Make the process easy. Use Engagement as Goal and Whatsapp as CTA if you're from India. Or Instagram/ Messenger

Location: Don't target the entire city. Break into 25 top locations and set a range of 3-5km respectively

Target: Target camera brands, people who are recently engaged, recently married, event managers, event promoters, advertising agency etc

KnownMess3604

I am in New York and I target entire New York city. I am targeting people that are interested in fashion/style/makeup/photoshoot/engaged shoppers ( as I found out from my previous clients that's my ideal clientelle)

Josvieeaf

Also targeting Media agency's, event agencies and owners of brands and decision makers.

ummm can we see your photography to make a better assumption , where is your traffic been sent , this is a leads campaign? do you have a landing page or within the meta ecosystem ?

KnownMess3604

Yes its mynycvision on instagram. This is a sales campaign, I am sending them to my website landing page https://mynycvision.mypixieset.com

Silent_Bandicoot3983

your photography is nice but your landing page flow is little weird -its not a typical lead gen type flow

for instance land on your landing page then

small button of contact you work ...

also sales campaign as in ?

curious why you opted for sales objective vs leads , you need more booking calls for photography dont you

KnownMess3604

Yes I do need booking calls , I need to sell my service as a photographer. So I am not supposed to use sales and instead I need leads campaign? Also thank you for your help about landing page I will definitely change that!!!

Silent_Bandicoot3983

Try 1 A/B testing 1 ad set instant forms ( google it) because you have lot of followers in your socials so you already have the social proof and 1 ad set with landing page - structure your landing page similar to your competitors.

KnownMess3604

So I should create a new leads campaign and try A/B testing and turn the sales campaign off? I Thank you so much for your help

Okay so in my experience, it's crucial to understand that traffic campaigns and sales campaigns operate differently. Traffic campaigns aim to drive visitors to your site, while sales campaigns focus on conversions, which in your case, is bookings.

The spike in your CPC from $0.42 to $2 suggests that the audience you're targeting might be more competitive in the sales campaign. This could be why you're not seeing the clicks you expected.

Now what I'm saying is... don't rush to turn off your campaign. It can take a few days before an ad set starts to perform. So, give it at least 3 days.

But yes, I think you should also analyze secondary actions. There might not be any purchases yet, but check if the ad set is generating interest, like page visits or inquiries.

Lastly, you mentioned your daily budget is $15. Is this the maximum you're willing to spend? A higher budget might give your ad more exposure.

Hope this helps!

This ad has been running for almost 3 days and I got zero clicks/zero inquiries ?? I am not spending more than $15 a day because I have tried a bunch of ways to advertise but just lost money so I was thinking when I feel like it's working I would spend more but I cannot figure out what works. Do you think I should try leads campaign instead of sales ? I am soo lost and don't know what to do anymore. I turned off the sales campaign because there was 0 interest but now I'm feeling like maybe I should wait more?? Even though its clearly not working? Because all my campaigns I am just throwing money out for two days and when it doesn't get clicks I just turn it off maybe that's the problem? ??thank you si much for answering

Hmm interesting... I get your frustration, but remember, advertising is a bit like fishing - it can take a bit of time and patience. Now, as for switching to a leads campaign, it could be worth a shot. It's a different approach, focusing on gathering contact info for potential clients. It's less immediate than a sales campaign, but it could be more effective for your business model.

Right, I mean... you're a portrait photographer, right? Your service isn't an impulse buy. It's something people need to think about, compare options, maybe even save up for. A leads campaign gives you the chance to nurture potential clients over time, rather than expecting immediate sales.

But yes, I think you're onto something with your last point. It's tempting to turn off a campaign that isn't immediately successful... but like that I mean, you might be cutting off its potential before it's had a chance to optimize.

Hope that all makes sense. You may want to try a leads campaign and let it run for a bit longer, maybe even a week or so, before making any decisions. Hope this helps!?

What conclusions can be drawn:

  • First, advertising algorithms do take time to set up. We talked about this in another article about running ads: Facebook Ads tip for 2024 to discuss
  • Secondly, advertising campaign settings will not replace or correct your creatives and landing pages. Monitor and analyze the quality of materials, otherwise even potential clients who are caught may refuse, disappointed in the landing page.
