此壶采用天青泥。
据文献记载，“天青泥”出自明代周高起所著的《阳羡茗壶系》一书，将其描述为：天青泥出蠡墅，陶之变暗肝色。此泥质地均匀，表面有梨皮细纹，胎体细密，色泽可人，烧制后变为暗肝色，泡茶极佳。

此壶造型取自于竹林。
