Bharat, 1300 years ago or India as it now known as, finally got one of it's defining holy places of worship, an iconic symbol of rich culture and heritage back. It was lack of unity that made Bharat a slave 1300 years ago, almost half of the once iconic Bharat lost forever.
Why the successive invasions succeeded will be a subject of another article.
Here, I am connecting the Pran-Pratishtha of one of the most beautiful temples in the world with Indian Film Industry. Indian Film Industry started by making devotional films or historicals before it turned to escapist-fiction.
Bharat Milap and Ram-Rajya were two of the biggest hits of 1940's. Almost 4-decades back Ramayan made television very popular in India; while it boosted TV-set sales by a whopping 55%, cinema took a severe hit.
Then in 2023 we had Adipurush, taking one of the strongest openings, the film is a classic example of how a wrong film will find no takers. Contrast this with Hanuman in 2024, the first hit of the year beautifully fused Indian culture in the super-hero world.
Indian cinemas latest superstar, Ranbir Kapoor, is all set to portray God Ram on the big screen in a 3-part epic-telling. Mark my words, this film will set records that will be tough to scale in near-future. Nitesh Tiwari is a sensible director and I am sure he will get the film right. The film will write new Box-Office records not only in India but across the world is certain.
