The approximate area of this project is 200 square meters and the excavation depth is equal to 7 meters. Since the project was located in the neighborhood of some old buildings and the soil type on the project site was categorized in granullar soil with no cohesion, we had been encountered great challenges to stabilize the excavation wall. The main Challenge in this project was an adjacent builing (a public bathroom) with a life span more than 100 years without any kind of structure and foundation. It is worth noting that a water tank of approximately 20 ton weight was located on the roof of this bathroom on a load-bearing wall. Therefore, after serious investigations and regading the week performance of adjacent builidings, our experts concluded that this old builindg and the excavation can only be retained by Top-Down construnction method. By simultaneous construction of the upper and lower structure in the Top-Down Method, we can increas the construction speed considerably while probviding high reliable excavation safety factors.
