I have been working tirelessly since this innocent soul was attacked, lynched and burned by a mob of hyenas in Kabul. This poem is dedicated to Farkhuda’s legacy: ?????? ?? ???? ? ???? ?????????

I am Farkhunda
I am an Afghan woman
I am a human being
I am of spirit and soul
Just like you.
I am a part of what makes it Whole.

You can beat me and kill me
You will not destroy my essence.
You can torture my physical form
You will never be able to harm my forever living soul.

You may burn my corpse
You can never eliminate the Truth arising from within my core.
My name will forever live
My memory shall inflame your place in hell.

I am Farkhunda
The innocent daughter of yesterday
Kabul’s martyr
Sacrificed for kindness and compassion
To be born once again in the soil of my land.

I was Farkhunda
A keepsake for Kabul to awaken from its winter sleep
And --recall its daughter each crack of dawn
For I shall not forget what you have done to me
Until justice prevails!
