Apprenticeship is a system that allows the students as apprentices to attend a vocational institute or school for a specified period (usually weekly) to receive theoretical lessons and sometimes practical laboratories per the curriculum needs and to spend the greater part of their time in a company or primary vocational training institution approved by the government, committees or authorized associations.

This system is considered one of the most successful educational systems in technical education and vocational training. It also helps the government and training supervisors to provide training opportunities that may ultimately lead to providing stable jobs for those enrolled in the system. It also saves enormous financial budgets from managing the education and training sector. Also, it provides an environment of Industrial and productive training for the trainee that simulates reality and economic trends because the trainees deal with actual equipment that simulates the labor market.

Graduates usually benefit from this system with their knowledge of professional competencies (theoretical knowledge, behavior, and practical skills) according to the latest technological developments. In addition, they learn about work procedures and market challenges during the period they spend in companies when implementing practical training, as the system is based on providing more job and training opportunities. The system is built to meet the needs and requirements of the labor market and the right for the graduate to complete his undergraduate and graduate studies.

One of the most important positives of the system is the participation between the private sector, educational institutions, and schools in preparing occupational standards and curricula, as well as the effective contribution in providing partial training opportunities for students to implement the study and training plan, conduct evaluation and control quality according to what was agreed upon to meet the plan targets.
