THE GUANGDONG-HONG KONG-MACAO GREATER BAY AREA BUSINESS DELEGATION VISITED VIETNAM TO EXPLORE COLLABORATION OPPORTUNITIES

From 16 to 20 December 2024, a delegation of 60 entrepreneurs from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay Area Entrepreneurs Alliance (GBA) visited Vietnam for business discussions and collaboration. The delegation was led by Dr. Jonathan Choi, Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (CGCC), Chairman of the GBA Entrepreneurs Alliance, Chairman of the Hong Kong-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, and Chairman of Sunwah Group.
The visit to Vietnam aimed at promoting bilateral investment and trade cooperation between Vietnam and China, particularly with the Greater Bay Area, focusing on several strategic sectors.?
On 16 - 17 December 2024, the delegation visited Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong Province, where they engaged with local leaders to discuss key projects in areas such as digital transformation, high-tech industries, sustainable development, and the development of international financial centers. In Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh City and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Investment & Business Forum, held on the afternoon of December 17, attracted over 200 delegates, offering an excellent platform for networking and promoting cooperation between businesses from both regions.
In Hanoi, the delegation met with leaders of the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to enhance trade, exports, and investment in textiles, garments, and construction materials. On 20 December, the Vietnam – Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Greater Bay Area Business and Investment Networking Forum was organized in Hanoi, with more than 250 participants. This Forum served as an important milestone in strengthening the strategic relationship between Vietnam and the Greater Bay Area, creating new opportunities for collaboration in key sectors such as investment, trade, technology, and infrastructure.

The delegations also visited Hai Phong City and Lao Cai City, focusing on learning about the infrastructure projects and the export of agricultural products, particularly tea, a key commodity.
As part of the visit, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) in Guangzhou signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the GBA Entrepreneurs Alliance’s Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City branches. This agreement aims to facilitate enhanced exchanges and organize trade and investment promotion activities between the Greater Bay Area and Vietnam.
