I think hiring fractionally for roles has been a super power for us at Zuddl! At Zuddl, we’ve taken a different approach to building our team. Instead of rushing to fill roles with full-time hires, we chose to bring in fractional experts. Why? Because early-stage startups need agility and the ability to test and iterate quickly—both with their products and their teams. Hiring fractionally also enables you to hire proven high level operators, when a full time salary might not make sense. It’s part of our “fast-iterate-and-test” methodology. Fractional hires let us test new approaches and strategies without overcommitting, ensuring we always have the right skills at the right time. It also works the other way around. Fractional employees can earn more money, net, by working for several companies at once. It also gives them a chance to test working for a company, if it works out for both sides, then converting into a full time opportunity becomes a no brainer. For early-stage startups, fractional hires provide a powerful advantage—access to top talent, minimal risk, and the flexibility to scale up (or down) as needed. More early stage companies should experiment with it. #saas #startups #growth
Fractional hiring can be a great approach, but it comes with both benefits and challenges. In a product company, the strong foundation we set ensures that quality stays intact, no matter who comes on board later. But in service-based companies, while fractional hiring has its perks, it can sometimes affect the consistency of quality across different clients if they don’t find right people at right time.
I love this approach, and I think more startups should definitely consider it! Hiring fractionally gives you the flexibility to bring in top talent without locking into long-term commitments that might not make sense for an early-stage company.
Hi Bharath Varma Would love to connect and discuss qbout it
This is an evolving trend at the moment. We should be able to see a lot more adoption over the next decade.
Had a post about fractional experts and teams recently as well!) Seems like a next decade trend ?? Do you notice any cons of such approach?
This approach to hiring is inspiring! Embracing flexibility and agility in early-stage startups can truly make a difference. It's great to see how fractional hires can benefit both companies and talent. Have you noticed any specific roles or areas where this model has been particularly effective?
