What’s the best piece of advice you would give to someone starting work at a big company? ?? Our colleague Simon Weisskopf is used to answering questions about making the most of a career at a company like Sappi – after all, he’s one of a select group of employees celebrating a special anniversary. It’s 20 years since he first joined us! ?? So, what would Simon’s advice be? “Every time there is something to do, say yes!” is his answer. Why? “Because when you do that, it will be appreciated – it exceeds all expectations.” Fostering a great team spirit is what Simon and Sappi are all about. And that team spirit serves all of us well. “I remember when we had to undertake a massive system migration,” Simon recalls. “We had to rebook thousands of order lines in a short period of time. Although it was a huge challenge, we really enjoyed working together as a team to overcome it.” Thanks, Simon, for being such a stand-out member of our Sappi team.?? ??????And just like that this day has arrived, the day marking the final end of my journey at Eurisy . What an incredible growing experience it has been. All started with great hopes in early 2020 when still certain way of working were not even conceivable and then the pandemic happened and I took up the challenge and I invested myself completely bringing my doubts and uncertainties as well as the vision I had clear in my mind and I felt ready to implement. And less than one year later an assembly composed of delegates from 22 Space Agencies appointed me Secretary General of this association I proudly led for 5 years. The trust placed in me by these experts has filled me with pride and motivation. With this post, I would like to thank not only all those who entrusted me with this role in the first place, but also all those who made it a success. First and foremost, I must thank my team, all the people who worked tirelessly with me over the past five years, taking a personal gamble and putting in commitment, dedication and great creativity. I also feel compelled to thank all the partners who have accompanied me in endless discussions giving shape to ideas that might have seemed extravagant at first but which matured into solid projects. I couldn't be more lucky for meeting all of you along the way and I look forward to witness you thriving. The professional path is a winding road made of obstacles and challenges, but one must always face them with confidence and with the right team! Surely the most valuable lesson I learned in these years and that I will take with me into the next chapter of my professional career is: it is all about humans. AD ASTRA ????????
