In this video Major General Carruthers (Assistant Adjutant General Commander Florida Army National Guard) takes the time to explain and highlight the benefits of attending Final Formation. Please share this with a battle buddy who is nearing ETS and is undecided on reenlisting or leaving the military. Next Event is tentatively September 7th 2024. Please check with your Readiness NCO incase there are any changes. The Final Formation is an event organized by the Florida Army National Guard for soldiers nearing their Expiration Term of Service (ETS). This event offers a platform for reenlistment with exceptional benefits. Eligible soldiers could receive bonuses, although it's important to note that these bonuses are specific to certain Military Occupational Specialties (MOS). Please consult your Readiness NCO to see if you qualify. Additionally, the event provides opportunities to explore new units and MOSs. It's important to understand that attending the Final Formation does not guarantee these opportunities, but it is highly encouraged to attend. Attending can help you seek out any potential opportunities that could allow you to continue serving the great state of Florida. Furthermore, it's possible to address these incentives directly at your unit before attending the Final Formation. We strongly encourage you to collaborate with your Readiness NCO in advance to see how they can assist you. #nationalguard #armynationalguard https://lnkd.in/dGaZUpip

Last week's FourBlock Career Readiness Program session was on "Telling Your Story". The topic got me thinking about some of the unique experiences and accomplishments I've had during my Navy career. I've talked about many of these regularly with people over the years. One of those fairly unique experiences I haven't talked much about at all is when I was a Casualty Assistance Calls Officer (CACO). Even if you've never heard the name, you've seen this role in movies. CACO's are the military members that deliver casualty information to a service member's family. Usually the movies stop after showing a military member in dress uniform delivering the news to a family. However, the job goes well beyond delivering a message. CACOs are there to help the family through everything from funeral arrangements, to travel, to finding the right support to help them through the trauma. As you can imagine, this role is not easy. I'm fortunate that I've only had to act in this role 3 times. Each time was unique and taught me more about emotional intelligence than anything else I've experienced. While the specifics of what I did as a CACO may not directly translate to a post-military career, the experience has helped shape my philosophy of people-focused leadership. To everyone else who has had this role or helped others in this role, thank you. I know what you did was one of the most challenging tasks of your life.

???????? ?????? ???????????????? ?????????? ???????????? ???????? ???? ???????????????? ???????? I left the Marine Corps in 2007 with the simple notion that I was meant for more, and staying would hold me back. I nailed my first job interview and was unemployed for just two weeks. The cookie-cutter advice for anyone leaving the military looks like the American Dream: family, house, degree, job. But by 2014, I found myself not in a dream but in my own hell, and I didn't know how to escape. I had just failed two classes while pursuing an engineering degree, had a two-year-old daughter, and a son on the way. At the time, I didn't realize that sometimes things fall apart so they can come together. I felt lost and asked myself, "Now what?" The degree was supposed to fix everything. Then, I attended a local supervisor workshop, where I rediscovered my love of leadership. It reminded me of what I loved about leadership in the Marines: seeing potential in others they couldn't see themselves and being the mirror for their own "dare to be great" moment. This reminder set me on the path to where I am today: leading others and hosting workshops to be for others what that facilitator was for me over 10 years ago. People often ask how I know so much. I simply reply, "Because I was in a dark valley, and I had to find a way out." That's why my tagline is "Powered by Trust, Built on Heart." Trust, because learning to trust yourself involves confronting the parts of your life often left unspoken. Heart, because enduring life's challenges prepares you to uplift others, and at the core of this strength is your capacity to feel deeply. #OvercomingObstacles #PersonalGrowth #LeadershipJourney #LifeLessons
