Like I said before — when I visited Kenya, I was amazed by Mpesa and Safaricom services and the wide adoption of this app across the country. (Who knows me - also knows I’m a big tech lover, anything that makes our life easier, faster and efficient pls sign me up…) ??While travelling into rural areas on my way to Mombasa airport I noticed so many signs and Ads of Safaricom services in farm houses and industrial areas, I was surprised, knowing even with limited resources the service was leading and shaping their lifestyle, phone and data, payment solutions accessible for so many people… well that’s a bit vague… We are talking about over 636,000 merchants using M-PESA and Safaricom it’s currently the leading mobile money service. ?? Seeing Uber partnering with Safaricom to provide free data for riders and drivers, makes me rethink crypto and blockchain entirely. I genuinely think that in the crypto space we are still very tunnel vision, with a heavy focus within our industry bubble. We build web3 products for web3 people. We make web3 events for web3 people and so on… What do I believe ?! ?? I might be wrong or I might not… But I believe that mass adoption is human centric and tech means nothing unless it means something to someone. And I think we need to listen to the actual problems and needs of each market, performance and impact will determine the future of where we going in this space. Let’s talk about pains not the gains. Uber / Safaricom - they probably had some costs on human and financial resources to conduct some research and surveys here and there, whilst they created room to listen and learn from to their customers, result ? —> They found a few gaps where they could improve and provide solutions to their customers, if solution was not internally possible, a partnership did the job. Together stronger. Small things, big impact. Uber and Safaricom got it right ???? Big thinkers - big moves.

When utilizing ride-hailing apps such as Ola or Uber or red bus etc... travel between locations, implement the apps by updating the program code at the initial stage of app installation where users can register their mobile number and add another contact number, typically belonging to their parents. Upon booking a ride from their source location, an automated message is sent to the registered parent's contact informing them that their son/daughter/belongings has "begun their journey". Upon arrival at the final destination, another automated message is "dispatched" to the parent's contact, reassuring them that their child/son/daughter/belongings has "safely reached their destination". This feature aims to provide an additional layer of security and peace of mind for both the travelers and their loved ones ???????? .
