Google CEO Sundar Pichai: (He gave a speech in just 60 seconds) in which he said: Imagine life as a game of 5 balls that you juggle in the air trying not to fall.. One of these balls is rubber and the rest are glass. The five balls are: Work, family, health, friends, and soul. It won't be long before you realize that (work) is a rubber ball that bounces back whenever it falls, while the other balls are made of glass. If one of them falls, it will never return to its former state. It will either become damaged, wounded, cracked, or even scattered. You have to realize this and strive for it. Manage your work efficiently during working hours, and leave at the time of departure to be assured of your sincerity and give the necessary time to your family and friends, and take an appropriate amount of rest, and take care of your health because if it goes, it is difficult to return to the way it was.:

I caught up with several friends who currently work at Google. It has changed in one very peculiar way. In the past, it wasn’t uncommon to see multiple teams working on nearly identical projects. It was almost like an internal competition—who would solve the problem better or faster? This overlap drove innovation, and the spirit of competition brought out everyone’s best ideas. Now, that dynamic has shifted. There’s a stronger focus on streamlining for immediate results, with fewer competing teams and more centralized efforts. Many of those parallel teams have consolidated or disappeared, replaced by a sharper focus on efficiency. Competition within Google is evolving—it’s now about delivering results with precision and speed. While the feel is different, this shift is making Google faster, more efficient, and ready to face a very different tech landscape. Googlers sometimes mourn the loss of the old culture - but maybe this is exactly what is needed at this stage of the company.

The Origin of Google’s Famous “20% Time”?? Did you know that one of the most innovation policies in tech history—Google’s “20% time”—actually has its roots in a practice pioneered by 3M? In the 1940s, 3M introduced a groundbreaking policy allowing employees to dedicate 15% of their time to side projects. This innovative approach gave birth to products like the iconic Post-it Notes, and later inspired Google to create its “20% time” policy. This practice led to the creation of transformative products like Gmail, Google Maps, and AdSense. Why Is This Policy So Important? ?Encourages employees to think outside the box and pursue bold ideas. ?Builds loyalty and motivation by giving employees autonomy. ?Provides a safe space to tackle challenges and experiment. ?Innovative cultures draw in and retain exceptional professionals. Investing in innovation through policies like “20% time” creates a win-win for employees and companies alike. Creativity and trust lead to extraordinary results. “Google decided that work-life balance and going home early and working from home was more important than winning.” - Shared by Google's former CEO Eric Schmidt yesterday at a Stanford talk discussing why Google is currently struggling. Is that really the reason Google might be falling behind? Possibly, or maybe it’s due to: ?A lack of clear vision and innovation—leadership may have lost the edge that once defined the company. ?Bureaucracy and slow decision-making— when a company grows to the size of Google, so does the red tape, which stifles agility. ?Over-reliance on legacy products—Google might be sticking too closely to its core products without diversifying or investing in breakthrough technologies. The truth is, I don't know for sure. But what I do know is that Eric hasn’t been Google’s CEO since 2011. It would be helpful to see such claims backed by data, especially when they so conveniently absolve leadership of responsibility. When we make sweeping statements without evidence, we’re just crafting narratives to serve individual interests. To truly serve our people and our organizations, we must listen to employees, collect data, and make informed decisions. #LeadershipMatters #CorporateCulture #EmployeeEngagement #DataDriven #Innovation
