I have been absent on many social platforms because I spent my time with NOBLE Academy, learning entrepreneurship with kingdom values. This six-class program truly highlighted the core principles I had overlooked in my years of business—principles that could have propelled me further, faster. But this was a personal challenge! At the end of the journey, participants pitch in front of a live investment panel, similar to what you might see on Shark Tank. I was very worried about this part. Public speaking was a crippling fear for me—not because of the panel, but because of my stroke. In college, I excelled in English and public speaking courses, earning high grades and feeling comfortable in those settings. While I wouldn’t claim to be on the level of a Toastmasters enthusiast, I did well. Unfortunately, at the beginning of this year, I had a stroke. I'm still learning to live with the effects of the damage to my brain. My speech therapist told me that I would struggle with finding the right words and stutter because of it. She advised me to speak more from natural thought. So, facing the Noble Investor panel was a significant struggle for me. I spent months preparing, pivoted twice on my speech, and even dealt with a costume mishap that left me rewriting my speech a week before the panel. I was determined not to let this handicap define me. I didn’t want pity or special treatment. A friend from church once told me, "That name tag doesn’t say Stroke Victim; it says Steve Wilson." His words have helped me through tough times. So, I did it. I stood up in front of the panel and gave it my all. I fumbled—yes, this part of the story isn’t about a flawless, perfect ending. But I did it, flaws and all. I faced my fear and moved forward. I'm still working on myself day by day, but Noble Academy gave me the push I needed to face this mountain. I can’t thank them enough for their mentorship, friendship, and the knowledge they imparted through one-on-one mentoring, calls, and live workshops. They are truly God’s people, wanting to see business owners level up and fulfill their dreams.
