It’s AYA Cancer Awareness Week! Stupid Cancer is teaming up with a cohort of partner organizations to shine a spotlight on AYA cancer awareness. All week we'll be sharing valuable content and resources in Instagram and Facebook to educate and support individuals and families impacted by cancer in this age group. But we can't do it alone—we need your help to spread the word and make a meaningful impact. ??? Breast Cancer Awareness Month ??? As a breast cancer survivor and having multiple family members diagnosed, this month holds special significance for me. The journey is without a doubt challenging, but it made me stronger, more grateful, and incredibly aware of the importance of early detection. Did you know? ? 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. That statistic is staggering, but early detection can make all the difference. Regular self-exams, mammograms, and knowing your body are crucial steps we can take to protect our health. To those currently fighting, I stand with you. To fellow survivors, I celebrate with you. And to everyone—please, take the time this month to schedule your screenings and encourage the women in your life to do the same. ?? Childhood cancer research is severely underfunded, with brain cancer being one of the most neglected areas. My 13-year-old son passed away from a GBM in 2014, and since then, I’ve dedicated my life to making a difference through 13forever, a 501(c)(3) organization. We raise funds to support children and families affected by childhood cancer, aiming to provide hope and better futures. Despite being the leading cause of death by disease in children, only a small fraction of research funding goes towards finding better treatments and cures for childhood cancers. This lack of funding means fewer resources for critical research, leaving many families without the hope of new, life-saving treatments.
