The City of Dripping Springs has released a draft of its updated Comprehensive Plan, Reimagine Dripping Springs. The Comprehensive Plan is the city’s visionary roadmap designed to guide growth and development over the next 20 years. The draft plan represents the culmination of extensive community input, careful research, and forward-thinking strategies that will shape the future of Dripping Springs so that it continues to be a thriving and sustainable place to live, work, and play. Through this Comprehensive Plan, the city has established priorities for the area’s future land use and major development projects. 8 years into Austin's South Central Waterfront District plans it's "Back to the Drawing Board" for infrastructure funding mechanism as Judge rules waterfront district not blighted enough to qualify for a TIRZ? A TIRZ is an economic development tool that captures the projected increase in tax revenue from development within a defined area and reinvests those funds into public improvements and development projects. Per the requirements the area is intended to be blighted and not expected to be redeveloped without this additional funding mechanism. Austin has experience with doing big complex developments; Domain, Mueller, 2nd Street District, but this plan has been hard to get moving. RiverSouth moved forward thru direct city negotiations years ago but everyone else has their plans revealed but need some certainty on how the upgraded infrastructure will be funded to move forward.
