?? #Georgia's routine childhood vaccination rates are still behind pre-pandemic levels, posing a risk for serious illnesses. For the 2023-2024 school year, only 88% of Georgia's kindergarteners received routine vaccinations,?which include the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine; diphtheria, tetanus, and acellular pertussis (DTaP) vaccine; the poliovirus (polio) vaccine; and?varicella (chickenpox) vaccine.
Before the pandemic, Georgia's vaccination rate was 93%, but it dropped to 83% during the 2022 school year. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention aims for a 95% vaccination rate to ensure herd immunity and prevent outbreaks.?
