?? Reflections from the #CREXCLT Event at Barings ?? (An eye-opening experience for a Corporate Real Estate end user) As someone deeply involved in Corporate Real Estate, it's easy to get wrapped up in the perspective within our own four walls and tell service providers exactly what we need. But yesterday, the CRExCLT event at the Barings building shifted my viewpoint. I found myself in breakout sessions with some of the brightest minds in the industry, feeling a touch of imposter syndrome. "Do I really belong in these rooms discussing the big issues of real estate?" Then, it hit me: It's okay to just listen and learn. Here’s what I took away: ?? 1. Engage with industry leaders – Their insights are invaluable. ?? 2. Embrace learning opportunities – Every session offered new perspective. ???? 3. Overcome self-doubt – We all have unique contributions to make but sometimes you learn more by listening. A huge thank you to Brian Norris for encouraging me to attend such a fantastic event. Looking forward to the next one! P.S. Have you ever felt out of place in a professional setting? How did you handle it? #CorporateRealEstate #CREXCLT #LearningAndGrowing #RealEstateStrategy #ProfessionalGrowth

How do you articulate something as complicated as research culture? Lengthy strategy documents? Word stuffed PowerPoints? Coffee fuelled consultation meetings? Not the most inspiring way to create a new vision for the research environment. St George’s knew they had to lead with something different. They needed something to simplify complexity, engage staff and students, and stick in hearts & minds. Together with senior leaders, we at Nifty Fox Creative helped to simplify the SGUL research culture story, boil it down into 4 core ideals and turn it into a rich picture that felt quintessentially St George’s. From the petri dish nodding to their biomedical expertise, to the sights of Tooting beloved by their students, we weaved the 4 core tenets of their culture into the visual fabric of the institution. The infographic, interactive version, and 90 second trailer are now being used to embed SGUL’s research culture vision university wide. Need help to communicate your vision and build a more inclusive, supportive and equitable culture? Drop us a DM.
Today is #ResearchCultureDay at St George's! It is a day to bring together people from across all areas of St George's to discuss the ways in which we can build a positive research culture, where everyone feels supported and empowered to do their best work. We believe that when people are given the opportunity to thrive and work together positively, we solve problems more effectively and do better research. As part of the day we are also launching our dedicated research culture web hub, signposting useful resources and ways to get involved. Visit https://lnkd.in/eXg3QP_E

??Fire pit cinema night with Barcombe Nurseries ?? Focusing on collaboration and community is essential to the spaces I aspire to be a part of and to create. At Field Food, people often mention ‘new competitors’ doing similar things to us. However, we don’t see competition; we see amazing people creating more opportunities for local produce to reach customers and for communities to connect in meaningful ways. Viewing others as competitors seems so common, yet time again we’ve found it to be counterproductive to true progress. Embracing collaboration, rather than competition, fuels growth and strengthens the impact we can all have together. We’re always open to conversations and partnerships with like-minded businesses, believing that by working together, we can create even greater positive change in our communities. We recently launched our Teams Festive offering, but if your team and collaborators need a space for something a little different give us a shout - https://lnkd.in/ee4fXibC

Reflecting on Billy Shore's "Letter from the Cathedral of Milan" During a Karibu Ceremony in the ALX AICE program, I was introduced to Billy Shore’s "Letter from the Cathedral of Milan". The 579-year construction of Milan’s cathedral symbolizes how both community and professional relationships thrive on patience, collaboration and a shared vision. It taught me that significant achievements are not instant but are built gradually through the collective efforts of many people working toward a common goal. The key lessons from Billy Shore's "Letter from the Cathedral of Milan": ? In the letter, Shore emphasizes how the cathedral, built over centuries by countless workers represents the cumulative contributions of many people, most of whom never saw the final result of their work. Yet, their efforts were part of something much bigger—a testament to what can be accomplished when people work together toward a shared goal. ? The letter also touches on themes of humility and service. The builders, unknown and unnamed, labored not for personal recognition but for the benefit of future generations. This idea resonates with the notion of community-building in both personal and professional spheres. ? The letter uses the cathedral as a metaphor to illustrate how professional relationships and networks are built through collaboration, support and shared responsibility. Rather than focusing solely on personal advancement, it encourages contributing to the success of others and creating a strong foundation that benefits everyone in the long run. True success lies in collective growth and long-term impact, not individual gain. The letter offers a powerful reminder of the importance of collective effort, humility and the long-lasting impact of community-building, both in our personal lives and professional careers.
