??Episode 284 | YQD SUCCESS STORIES: How Jeromy Turned His Love For Hospitality Into Content Creation Jeromy R. Marcano-Gonzalez, CHIA is a proud Puerto Rican who has called Atlanta “home” since 2017. He’s passionate about all things food and beverage and has worked in the hospitality industry for 8 years. His passion came from growing up with a grandmother who loved to cook and understood the power of food and gathering as a family. Seeing and helping her cook for these gatherings with so much love ignited a flame within him that he stills carries to this day. Jeromy knew his entire life that he wanted to create something that was his — a restaurant, coffee shop, food truck, etc. It wasn’t until 2023 that he finally let all fear behind him and created TropiBites , an outlet to showcase the beauty of Puerto Rican and other Latin cuisines. He now hopes to continue showing his love for food and gathering amongst loved ones, just like his abuela did, with each bite and sip. This week, In this episode, Jeromy shares his journey of pursuing his passion for food and beverage while working in the hospitality industry. He talks about his upbringing in Puerto Rico, his initial career path in engineering, and his decision to follow his true passion for hospitality. Jeromy discusses the challenges of balancing work, school, and content creation, as well as the importance of authenticity and consistency in building a following. He shares his highlights and collaborations as a content creator and his plans for the future, including expanding into YouTube and hosting pop-up events. ?? What could I learn from a chef?????? ?? This is what I was thinking going into our latest interview for The Quest for Success??? We had the privilege of sitting down with Big Sam Young, the mastermind chef behind S’more, one of Sydney’s most talked-about restaurants. Whilst I am also trying to build a business, I wasn't sure if anything from the hospitality industry would relate to me. But as always, I was wrong. Sam’s story is nothing short of inspiring. Growing up in a blue-collar family in Hong Kong, Sam’s journey to becoming a top chef, not just surviving but thriving during the lockdown and ultimatley starting his restaurant is a masterclass in determination and adaptability. ?? Here’s what really stood out to me: ? Turning Adversity into Opportunity: Sam launched his restaurant during the pandemic, a time when many businesses were closing their doors. His approach to offering take-home meals and private dining experiences was a game-changer. ? The Power of Social Media: Sam’s organic Instagram growth is a testament to the power of authenticity and consistency. He’s not just building a following—he’s creating a community. ? Passion Meets Hustle: Sam’s relentless drive to improve, combined with his passion for food, is what sets him apart. He’s a living example of why loving what you do is key to success. ? Celebrating Wins: Sam’s philosophy of celebrating every success, no matter how small, is something we can all take to heart. It’s about surrounding yourself with positivity and keeping the momentum going. This conversation was a goldmine of insights, and I left feeling more motivated than ever to push boundaries and keep learning. ?? Tune in now to catch all the wisdom Sam shared: https://lnkd.in/gEduDkVY I’d love to hear what you think—what’s the best lesson you've learnt from someone you didn't expect? Food Stars S2 premiered 2 weeks ago with a completely revamped format. Here's why it's 10x better ?? For some background, I was one of 15 contestants on S1 of Gordon Ramsay's Food Stars. We competed through weekly challenges to show off our "business skills" and ultimately convince Gordon to invest in our businesses. Unfortunately, I was eliminated in E3 when my wine brand was deemed "too Silicon Valley, not Napa Valley." Here's where last season fell short: 1. One team: we all competed under Gordon's umbrella – making him the single decision maker of who moved on. 2. Founder spotlight (or lack thereof): most contestants got 10-15 seconds of time to explain their business. And for most of us, including myself, this only aired several episodes into the show! Audience members want to have an opinion on your business – just like in Shark Tank – right from the beginning. Pitching is everything! 3. Food-focused: S1 felt a lot more like Hell's Kitchen with inexperienced chefs (aka me) rather than Apprentice with food entrepreneurs. After watching the first episode of season 2, it's clear they learned from the above. This season: 1. Teams: They broke up the contestants into 2 teams between Gordon and Lisa Vanderpump. 2. Pitching intros: E1 solely consisted of contestants pitching. YES! This was the key to success. Get the audience involved with the contestants and their businesses ASAP. We are all sharks in the audience now. 3. Business challenges: Although it's still early, we are already seeing signs of greater business-focused tasks. I'm excited to see how competition between the two sides spurs even more! I'm beyond grateful for my experience on S1 of Food Stars. But I'm even more excited to see the steps forward they've taken to highlight the founders & their incredible products in S2. Best of luck to the S2 cast! #foodstars #realitytv #vanderpump #gordonramsay #yeschef #cooking #founder #pitch #sharktank
