Today, as part of the Sustainable Mobility Network, we are excited to share a short film highlighting the daily struggles faced by people navigating our cities. Prithvi’s job as a vegetable vendor takes him across the city twice a day, navigating busy streets with his cart. But why should providing essential services mean enduring daily struggles on the road? Our cities must prioritize inclusivity and accessibility to ensure safety and respect for all. On #WorldHabitatDay, let’s advocate for urban spaces that cater to people, not just vehicles. Cleaner, safer, and more inclusive cities are essential for everyone’s well-being. Together, we can reshape our urban landscapes to serve the needs of all communities. #MyAccessMatters #WorldHabitatDay

????♂? We’re launching a strategic project for a sustainable mobility plan—one that takes a holistic approach to building a more connected and inclusive municipality. This initiative is much more than a conventional mobility plan; it involves a thorough review of all past mobility efforts to identify successful practices worth replicating and areas that need improvement. By establishing this foundation, we can focus on key spaces needing intervention to enhance movement and social spaces, resulting in a clear and actionable plan. Our aim is not only to optimize public resources but also to cultivate a vision of mobility that is people-centered, inclusive, and forward-looking. As we address both long-term strategies and practical short- to medium-term actions tailored for a smaller municipality, we consider the diverse facets of urban mobility that directly impact community life and resilience: Gender and Mobility ??♀? Culture and Mobility ?? Sports and Mobility ??♀? Accessibility ? Community Participation + Mobility ??? Territorial Connectivity ??? Road Safety ?? Sustainability and Renaturalization + Mobility ?? Child-Friendly Mobility ?? Local Commerce + Mobility ?? These themes reflect a commitment to inclusive urban spaces that serve everyone. Mobility is more than just movement—it’s about creating spaces where people feel safe, connected, and engaged in their surroundings. By focusing on these interrelated dimensions, we’re working toward a transformative approach that doesn’t just move people but also strengthens communities, promotes well-being, and ensures that our public spaces foster connection and opportunity for all. It’s the beginning of a journey toward a sustainable, community-centered urban future. ??♀??? #SustainableMobility #UrbanTransformation #CommunityEngagement #StrategicPlanning #PublicSpace #Accessibility #Sustainability

City of Ettelbruck – Greening Public Spaces for Heat Resilience and Community Wellbeing Led by Dr. Sacha Oberweis, the City of Ettelbruck is championing urban resilience by integrating green zones into public spaces as part of the Cool Neighbourhoods project. A key pilot project will transform a 12,000 m2 car park in a floodable zone into a vibrant green area. Following the City’s circular economy principles, existing materials will be reused onsite or at other locations, reducing waste and supporting sustainable development. By increasing green surfaces and de-hardening public spaces, Ettelbruck is tackling urban heat stress while enhancing community wellbeing. Data collection and surveys will monitor the impact on air quality and cooling effects, providing valuable long-term insights. Community engagement will be a priority, with citizens contributing through workshops and surveys. The results will feed into the Cool Neighbourhoods business model and liveability index, ensuring that public spaces meet the needs of Ettelbruck's residents. Stay tuned to meet more of the Cool Neighbourhoods partners!! Thoughtful planning makes all the difference especially when the urban population grows. Land use planning is at the heart of creating sustainable cities. It involves organizing land use that is the green spaces, residential areas, commercial areas and industrial sites. Proper planning reduces pollution and conserves resources and also helps build communities with healthy social interactions, safe transportation and long term sustainability. Our focus is to create environments that encourage the development of children by thoughtfully managing land in the urban areas. We ensure children are in spaces that encourage them to play, explore, grow and socialize. Follow us for more insights and updates on building urban areas that are sustainable, safe, and designed for all. #urbanplanning #landusemanagement #communitydevelopment #sustainablecities #inclusivecommunities #childfriendlycities #urbaninnovation #neighborhoodplanning #cityplanning #communityengagement
