This is big time. Walmart just announced a #privatelabel lined called “Bettergoods” described as an “elevated experience that delivers quality, unique, chef-inspired food at an incredible value”. This isn’t your run of the mill #PrivateLabel brand (which already have hit record growth numbers in recent years and represent 20.7% of #grocery industry unit sales today). The line of over 300 products hit three categories: ?????? Culinary experiences? ?? Plant-Based ?? “Made Without” (Has Walmart been studying the New Fare thesis? ??). This type of launch shows Walmart is paying attention and by developing a unique white label that isn’t solely competing on price, but delivering a specific #experience driven by consumer-driven preferences, proves what Americans expect from their food today. Walmart is stepping up its game — and it might be coming for Trader Joe's with its new private label, Bettergoods. Bettergoods is a chef-inspired label with over 300 products, including fun and preimum-sounding ones like black-truffle butter and nondairy ice cream! Even better, especially amid rising food costs, a lot of Bettergoods items are under $5. Read Amena Ahmed's review that we published on Business Insider below. It's made me really want to head to Walmart to see what's on the shelves! #walmart #bettergoods #food

Costco has announced a significant change in its food court beverage lineup by switching from Pepsi products to Coca-Cola, marking the end of a decade-long association with Pepsi. This transition, unveiled at Costco's annual shareholders meeting by CEO Ron Vachris, has already stirred excitement among customers who prefer Coca-Cola's offerings. According to IndexBox data, this strategic move could positively impact consumer behavior. Coca-Cola's renowned market presence within the soft drink sector makes it an attractive option for many. The change reflects Costco's intent to align with traditional customer preferences, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction. This shift reverses a decision made in 2013 to partner with Pepsi, aimed at cost savings to sustain the famously affordable $1.50 hot dog and soda combo. Last year, CFO Gary Millerchip confirmed there are no plans to raise the price of this staple, suggesting the switch will not affect its affordability. Though some Pepsi fans voiced their dissent on social media, the reception has been overwhelmingly positive. Many shoppers look forward to the return of Coke, Coke Zero, Diet Coke, and Sprite to the food court menu. This switch is not merely a beverage change; it's a shift that resonates with the brand's commitment to meeting customer expectations and preferences. #Costco #CocaCola #BeverageIndustry https://lnkd.in/gdZPECFz

I figure there's a nonstop flow of LI updates telling you how wrong you are and how to do it right. Consider this a break - my new hack for Avocado Toast. I LOVE avocado toast (especially with a thick yummy sourdough). This will seem ridiculous. I was trying to cut bread/stop buying breakfast out and make it at home. So here goes: Costco sous vide egg bites (basically the Starbucks one). I use the egg white ones ($12/5 about $2.40 each serving of 2 egg bites) - 1:40 in the microwave or a few minutes in an air fryer) + Costco avocado smash (About $13/16 - .81 each serving) means you don't have to pick avos and open them every day. Put these two together, throw some seasoning on top (zaatar, siracha, etc) and maybe a splash of olive oil. Costs under $3.50. At Starbucks this will cost about $6.25 (Egg Bits are $5+ and the avo spread is $1.25). I know this post is going to go viral and Costco is going to make a ton of money, hence my long position on Costco stock increasing right before this post. Then of course Starbucks will lose a ton of money, hence my short position there.

Diet in sufficient amount and composition is essential for good health in humans. Total dietary energy intake is modulated by food portion size, food energy density, the number of eating occasions. Diet components and gene interactions play a central role in maintaining health throughout life. Major functions of diet are not only to provide energy and building material for the growth, and development, but also to maintain cellular functions for survival. The effects of diet on gene expression are exerted throughout the life-cycle, with prenatal and early postnatal life being especially critical periods for optimal development. Changes in gene expression may be dynamic and short-term, stable and long-term, and even heritable between cell divisions and across generations. Effects of diet on brain and cognitive function are multifactorial and very complex. These effects not only involve the impact of a single dietary component or chemical on the brain but with numerous interactions between multiple nutrients, metabolites, foods, and other environmental and genetic factors. In addition to major macronutrients (carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins), diet also contains micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, and trace elements), which play important roles in maintaining optimal health. Here I focus on a brand "Brainiac Foods". Jonathan Wolfson JD and Mark Brooks are the cofounders and CEOs of Brainiac Foods. This company manufactures snacks for the whole family targeting young and adult brain. After discovering the fact that nearly 20% of American families aren't getting the recommended levels of brain nutrients. Jonathan Wolfson JD and Mark Brooks have partnered with nutritionists, pediatricians, neurologists and dietitians to create Brainiac Foods. These nutritious products are the first and only snacks available online. These snakes contain three main Omega 3 fatty acids (alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), as well as choline, which is the structural part of phospholipids. Snacks also contain leutin containing 600 known naturally occurring carotenoids. Brainiac Foods products are quite tasty, flavorful and healthy. Therefore, to keep your brain healthy and I would strongly recommend "Brainiac Foods" for American public. ~ Tahira Farooqui

Exciting times in the retail sector as Walmart steps up its game! With their new premium line, Bettergoods, they're not just expanding their offerings but redefining their brand to cater to a broader audience. How will this shake up the competition with giants like Trader Joe's and Whole Foods Market? #RetailRebrand #MarketCompetition #Bettergoods
Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods have some new competition. Walmart recently introduced its new premium food line, Bettergoods, aiming to attract new, higher-income shoppers and increase revenue. Over 300 Bettergoods items, including cardamom rose raspberry jam and coconut chocolate chip cookie dough bites, are expected to hit shelves this year. It’s no secret that this is a direct result of their competition with Costco Wholesale, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods Market, which also have their own line of food products. Known as a place to go when you’re looking for something low-cost, Bettergoods is Walmart’s attempt at combating this stereotype. Will it succeed at becoming a go-to place for consumers no matter what is on their grocery list? Find out more about Walmart’s new venture in this The Wall Street Journal article: https://lnkd.in/gT2CJ7Xt?

One particular area inside Costco’s stores has managed to help the club stand out from its competitors. That area is its food court, which has consistently gone viral on social media for menu items such as its chicken bake, chocolate chip cookie, and $1.50 hot dog and soda combo. Costco has opted to kick off 2025 with another major menu change, and it’s sure to rattle the 100-year-old rivalry between two popular companies. More: https://trib.al/nZWlTBk

When making your own pizza dough, most recipes call for sugar. Do yourself a favor and instead use some higher end local honey. Honey is a great example of how to command premium pricing for a common CPG product. Pushing avg category prices up with "premium products" is in a win for the buyer's set (who doesn't love more rent) while giving consumer's greater choice with a trade up. As for how high can you go with a premium offering? I’ve always thought that threshold was around 200% from the blended average of private label and national brand is about the threshold. Any more from a trade-up perspective feels a bit greedy and might put consumers off. (Example: if onshelf prices are $4 to $7 dollars, $14 is about as high as I recommend going - any more is a BIG ask from consumers.) That’s where size comes in: target your unit volume / quantity to a specific price point that works at your target retailers (like what you’d do for Costco). Bon Appetit!
