Hey neighbours! In this video, I’m trying something a bit different. Instead of my usual time-lapse videos, I’m recording in the moment while I spray weeds with my?weed sprayer. ???? I thought it would be fun to experiment with more real-time content to give you a better look at how I tackle tasks. ?? Always Donation-Based: Since the beginning, we've operated on a donation basis. While we now recommend a price, we aim to work within individuals' budgets. To scale up and maintain our ethos, we've also introduced volunteer work hours to ensure we can fairly pay our Community Helpers. If we end up working with each other, you'll get a detailed explanation about what this means. It's not just about the tasks; it's about building connections, spreading love, and creating a positive ripple effect in the community. ?? Thank you, ?? 07379 936 399 ?? www.iknowaguy.today For those of you who don't know the journey so far: Just over a year ago at 22, I left night shifts at the warehouse, penniless but eager to impact my community. Starting with free bin cleanings, I ventured into gardening armed with bare hands and a plastic bag, receiving generous support from neighbours. The journey expanded my skills to gardening, pressure washing, painting, video editing, gutter clearing, etc. Neighbours even provided ladders for gutter work. Progressing from walking to an electric bike and a double child trailer, my unconventional self-employment, though without a van, has let me give back and make a living in unexpected ways. ????♂? Now, with so much interest, we're expanding our team to continue providing the same great service to more people!

To wrap up #EarthMonth, this weekend I graduated from Forest ReLeaf of Missouri's Tree Stewardship program, which included 12 hours of classroom instruction and 15 hours of volunteer work. Over the past month, I participated in some local volunteer activities, including: ?? Planting trees along the Great Rivers Greenway ?? Potting tree seedlings at the Forest ReLeaf nursery ?? Pulling tulips at the Missouri Botanical Garden ?? Picking up trash and removing invasive species with Open Space STL ?? Mulching and pruning park trees with STL Neighborhood Foresters The most important thing I learned during this program ... There are some amazing organizations in St. Louis making our city a greener, healthier and more beautiful place to live. If you're like me and at times feel overwhelmed by the immense amount of work needed to safeguard our environment, go out and give a few hours of your time at one of these (or similar) organizations. You'll feel better knowing that you made a lasting and positive impact on your community. That, and say no to mulch volcanoes ?? (Seriously though, they're awful for trees.) What makes a goal different from a dream? We are feeling inspired (and happily caffeinated!) after a staff gathering at Front Seat Coffee to discuss our goals/dreams for 2025. We used a strategy called backcasting. This requires first identifying your goal and then considering the incremental steps necessary along the way. This circumvents staying on the well trodden path and rather allows for ambitious thinking that remains grounded in reality. It prioritizes visioning and imagining as essential parts of creating a future reflective of the world we aspire to. It is a helpful approach for long term, complex work including that done by Salvation Farms. Salvation Farms #gleaning is prioritizing the #volunteer experience, safety and operations in the field through creating standard practices that will set their program on a course of continual improvement. The Vermont Commodity Program is outlining plans tied to hiring, operations and partnerships during this time of anticipated expansion. Without imagining the positive impacts, the path would feel impossible to navigate. And without knowing our “why”, the effort would feel empty and meaningless. We continue to ground into our mission based-work in service of farmers and eaters. At SureCall Contact Centers, we pride ourselves on giving back to our community. Recently, our team assisted Hull Services by painting picnic tables, removing old paint, and trimming bushes. We learned that annual painting is necessary due to wear from children and sun exposure, and that the maintenance team is busy with multiple properties, often relying on volunteers. The experience was rewarding, especially learning about support programs for individuals away from home. Hey PDX HSP Community, During this month of the colonial holiday of Thanksgiving, we are thinking about how the work of PDX HSP interrelates with calls for repair from the Indigenous Land Back movement. So for our next community event we are grateful to be hosting Jillene Joseph, enrolled member of the Gros Ventre or Aaniiih people, and board member of the Future Generations Collaborative (FGC). We are very excited that Jillene will be hosting us at and sharing about Barbie’s Village, a land back transfer of the former Laurelhurst Presbyterian Church building and the property it sits on. FGC uses the building as a community hub and is developing a tiny home village on the property for houseless Native parents with small children.
