For the past 16 years, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) has been at the forefront of promoting the responsible use of antibiotics, leading the European Antibiotic Awareness Day (#EAAD) on November 18th each year.?? ? The dedicated EAAD website provides information about antibiotic resistance and promotes awareness regarding its implications for public health. It's important to recognise that antibiotic resistance is a specific aspect of the broader challenge of antimicrobial resistance (#AMR). ?? **Critical Shortage of Infectious Disease Doctors** ?? The U.S. is facing an alarming shortage of infectious disease (ID) doctors, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. With only one active ID physician per 34,214 people and 80% of U.S. counties lacking specialists, the need for ID experts has never been more urgent. IDSA Foundation and Infectious Diseases Society of America are addressing this by investing in recruitment, mentorship, and career development for future ID leaders.

In today’s world of antimicrobial resistant microbes, To Prescribe or Not To Prescribe(1) is the question. But in cases of suspected acute infection, ‘better three hours too soon than a minute late’(2) just may be the mantra. MeMed BV?, a regulatory-cleared test, can aid physicians in determining the etiology of infection. Learn about the impact of MeMed BV in 10 urgent care centers. https://bit.ly/3LxylDD #Diagnostics #AntimicrobialResistance #AntibioticStewardship 1. Hamlet, Act 3, Scene 1.
