?? Unlocking Inspiration: The Importance of Immersive Environments for Children ?? As educators and architects, we understand the profound impact that physical spaces can have on a child's learning journey. Research by O'Brien and Colleagues (2016) highlights the significance of creating enthusiastic and inspiring environments to foster literacy development in young learners. That's why at Hubo Studio, we believe in creating environments that not only educate but also inspire. We create spaces where children are transported into a world of wonder and imagination, where every corner holds the promise of discovery and adventure. One of our latest projects, the immersive library design inspired by the four elements – fire, water, earth, and air – embodies this vision. Fire ignites the passion for learning, with vibrant hues and dynamic shapes that stimulate curiosity and creativity. Water flows through the space, representing the fluidity of knowledge and the ever-changing nature of learning. Earth grounds us, providing a sense of stability and connection to the natural world, while air breathes life into the environment, fostering a sense of freedom and possibility. Stepping into our library, children are not just readers; they are explorers, adventurers, and dreamers. Every element of the design has been carefully crafted to engage the senses and spark the imagination, inviting young minds to embark on a journey of discovery. Asher Marcus, Lead Designer at Hubo Studio, said “A library is often a cathedral for books – a museum for stories, where silence is law and the librarian rules. We wanted to flip this idea on its head and create a kid-centric backdrop for exploring and imagining, where the story can leave the book, and be told and experienced.” But don't just take our word for it – experience it for yourself! Follow the link below to step into our immersive environment and see firsthand the power of design to inspire and empower young learners. ?? ?? https://lnkd.in/gmVqMs7y

The idea of assemblage, of bringing together things where their connections usurp their individual aspects, as a making prinicple. Been trying to learn #blueprints in #unreal, it's like a visual programming language using nodes that connect. It started to make me think about ways of making, as I am learning about ideas such as non-linear and interactive narrative design. So design instead of writer, when it all about connections, and working with existing assets that you bring together and make occur in a way you want. Kafka and Metamorphoses came to mind, as a text, and I had headshots from my previous animation work, and wondered about making cards of people, and building a card tower, to reveal connections. So the assembling of the tower reveals the way they come together,?more than the individual cards themselves. Moving between the digital and the material, is enlightening, even if the analogue and the digital are not as different as we presume, as everything has some form of materiality. Card towers, in relation to games and play, have many evocative and enticing readings. I hope to investigate this more, working with groups in September for Equal Arts.?Maybe it all a metaphor, about priortising the connections.?Though using Kafka, not sure, but am also into opening lines of stories at this point in time.?#kafak #games #art #creativethinking

Chroma 0306 - In Which We Don’t Sugar-Coat There’s no room for sugar-coating, especially when we know the level of competition our students are stepping into. This week, Q Park sat down with Adrian He’s screen burn-in shot (never having seen it before) and within minutes, his eye for detail zeroed in on every issue: the tracking shifts, the unnatural white glow outlining the character, and the consistencies which make for a less convincing integration. That’s how it is at Alpha Chromatica. We don’t hand out “good enough” pats on the back when the work isn’t up to standard. What’s the point of paying $30k to $50k in tuition if the people teaching you aren’t willing to tell you the truth? Why pay more for a school that does you a disservice by glossing over what actually needs fixing, only for you to find out later, when it’s too late? You have no idea how many times I’ve heard students from other schools say, “I wish I knew about your program before. I can’t afford to study here because I spent all my money on tuition,” and then I rarely ever hear from them again. I hope they found a way, but I know deep down many would have given up and gone on to do something else. It’s always a loss to society when we discourage an artist. And it’s why we don’t just stop at pointing out what’s wrong - we take the time to help you push your work to where it needs to be. That’s exactly what Q Park did this week. After spotting these issues, he broke down how to fix them. That’s the difference here: We’re not just telling you what’s wrong, we’re showing you how to make it right. These critique sessions happen twice a week, schedule permitting, and run for two hours after regular classes. Every time, we focus on what really matters: the feedback you need to meet the standards of this highly competitive industry. No fluff. No shortcuts. No “good enough” when it’s not. P.S. If you’re serious about breaking into the VFX industry, you deserve honest feedback and real encouragement. How you say something matters just as much as what you say. ?? #AlphaChromatica #Chroma #HeyGanz #ItsGoodtoBeGreat #AceMentors #QnahmPark #AdrianHe #ScreenBurnIn

The Arts and Entertainment Technologies program at UT Austin is the perfect example of the interdisciplinary, creative pathway we need to start building in K12 education. Through this program, graduates become programmers, creative technologists, game designers, 3D artists, sound designers, experience designers, content creators, lighting designers, and creators of future tech. If we want to get more diverse people interested in STEAM, one place to start is by building skillsets like those offered at AET in K12 education. By providing students with the opportunity to explore their creativity and develop a wide range of skills, we can help create a more inclusive and diverse STEAM community. skills: *object oriented programming *interaction design *physical computing/IoT/sensors/arduino *3d modeling, textures, rigging *projection, lighting, sound, and interactivity. *sound production, digital audio systems, recording techniques, previsualization and content creation. *real time generative audio production aka coding for music/sound *game design-coding, narrative, mechanics, physics engines, sound, art, "games for social good" *video, motion graphics, working in 2D/3D *AR/VR #artandtechnology #artandcomputerscience Learn more about the Arts and Entertainment Technologies program at UT Austin by visiting https://lnkd.in/gDKShpYS. We should not be apologetic about playing. But, subconsciously, we often do. In explaining why we adopt play based pedagogy, we are quick to legitimise it by using grades or marks. Partly, this is because we misunderstand play. In a play based lesson, for example, children in our science class came up with their solutions to move the vehicle they had designed without using batteries or electricity. Play is the best way to elicit creative responses in learning because there is no one right answer or solution. It also promotes experimentation which is key to innovation. Did I neglect to mention it also promotes team work and communications? Judging by the children’s creations, it had gone well. Play can stand on its own because its benefits are tremendous. It does not have to always lean on marks and grades. Are you game to play? Due to space constraints, I could only post one video. Thanks to Michelle Ngian for designing these lessons and our tutors for taking up the ideas to play.
