It's about time to Transform the “Machine Shop” In 2023, German Gross Fixed Assets (GFA), reached a staggering $32.43 trillion and were used to generate a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of $6.18 trillion. Considering the Growth of Gross Value Creation (GGVC) with a basis of 2015 = 100.00, Germany grew across all economic sectors, achieving 107.93 in 2023 - or in other words: “a massive, enormous machine shop, moving in ultra slow-motion”. Significant different story in the German IT sector. Here, the IT-related GGVC with an average yearly growth rate of 5% achieved over the same period 140.42, contributing $285 billion to the German GDP in 2023. Digitalization in healthcare, cleantech, energy, transport, and logistics became the main growth driver and opportunity. Still, about 75% of Germans today are convinced that IT is the key to ensuring quality of life. 95% believe that the “Machine Shop” is lagging in Digitization.
