Hump Day Tip: Do you track your CP declined services? If you don’t, you should. We want to suggest that in addition to the declines themselves, track the Advisor along with them. If you see the pattern of specific declines, use the results as a training guide for that advisor. Have them give you their pitch and coach for skill improvements.

It's ok for the bar exam to be challenging. (Yes, I agree that the process for law licensure has many flaws.) And also, it's not meant to be easy. The practice of law is challenging. For some of us, me included, the bar exam is a little like... Having/raising kids. Getting six-pack abs. Building a business from scratch. As much as I want to get six-pack abs by sitting on the couch watching Netflix, it won't happen. If I want six-pack abs... I have to let it be uncomfortable. And find a way to move through the discomfort until I achieve my goal. (Which may explain why I don't have six-pack abs. ??) Remember, anything worth doing will get you outside your comfort zone. "How should I spend the last few days or weeks before 1L?" Do less, heck be a couch potato if you want. Many incoming 1L's have expressed to me that they don't feel like they are "prepared" or "doing enough" before the start of classes. This is a fallacy. You may or may not have seen past posts from me about how to spend the summer before law school: doing all the OTHER things. If you have yet to figure out where you will live, how you will travel to school, and other logistical/financial questions–start there. But, I will bet that most of you have those basics covered. Trevin Crider recently mentioned that you should get car repairs done, another easy thing to overlook. I made the mistake of dragging a dying car battery into 1L & lost a full day of classes getting to & from the closest Autozone to fix it. ??♀? If you've covered all the basics and taken care of your car (if applicable), then do less!!!!!!! Do less "preparing" and do more enjoying. Take hikes, check out new restaurants, & meet up with classmates. I've seen on other socials that incoming 1L Jacob Petersen is already doing this before he starts @ Toledo law. Follow his lead!
