I just finished writing my travel blog post about my overnight stay at Ha Long Bay. During our trip, we visited the Luan Cave, Titop Island, and Sung Sot Cave while on the Ambassador Cruise. This trip is special because we are traveling with more than twenty of our university mates, whom we have known for more than 30 years. Volcano Boarding?! Yes, you heard that right! We took a family adventure to Nicaragua and boarded down the side of an active volcano—kids included (don’t worry, we took all the necessary safety measures). This wasn’t just about the thrill; it was about teaching our kids some valuable life lessons: ?? Take Risks – You can’t truly experience life if you always play it safe. ?? Do Hard Things – To get to the fun part, you’ve got to earn it. Before we flew down the volcano, we had to hike almost two miles to the top in the heat. It was tough, but it made the ride down that much sweeter. These lessons apply far beyond family adventures. In life and in business, success often comes when you push your limits, step outside your comfort zone, and work hard for the reward. Whether it’s building a company, chasing a big dream, or standing at the top of a volcano, the journey and the challenge are where the growth happens. That’s why we've partnered with Fleetwood Nautical College since 2021, where Cadets pursue degrees to support future careers as Marine Engineers or Deck Officers. We’re thrilled that our first cohort of Cadets have now completed their studies and will soon join our vessels in full-time roles! We’ve also proudly partnered with Hull Sea Cadets since 2019, supporting initiatives like the annual Welton Water camping and sailing trip—providing young people with hands-on experience and a connection to careers at sea. We look forward to continuing to support pathways into the fishing industry and the wider sector, which is full of innovation and opportunity.
