A Vision Beyond Lenses When Afolabi Ajimoti started More Than Lenses Edu., it was simply about connecting with young minds, sharing creative skills, and letting them see the world through a new lens—one that sparks imagination and opportunity. It was an instinct, an impulse to give back. Over time, though, the mission has grown deeper and more defined. We’ve come to realize that equipping kids from low-income families with skills in media and art is only one part of the equation. Without access to quality education, these talents can only take them so far. It’s why, through More Than Lenses Educational Foundation, we’re committed to doing more, stepping up to help cover school fees so these kids don’t have to choose between education and survival. But now, we need to approach this work with intention and commitment, creating a lasting impact that transforms lives and communities. To be deliberate in making this dream a reality, we need your help. Whether it’s through donations, partnerships, or simply spreading the word, every bit of support brings us closer to reaching more children, opening more doors, and giving them a future brimming with possibility. Together, we can create something powerful—more than just a foundation, a movement for change.

Together we need to be taking the necessary steps to remove digital exclusion for good and build a movement for digital inclusion to ensure that no one is left behind. Our new grants programme the #VolunteerandConnect fund is supporting schools with their digital needs from WIFI costs through to digital kit. A few #SkollWF takeaways: I may not be there in person this year but here’s what I’m hearing: 1. Donors are prioritizing collaboration and transparency: not only are donor collabs being highlighted more than ever as a way to devote resources to different programs all at once, they seem to be the future of philanthropy. Along with collaboration, donors realize that there is much to be gained by being forthright with their intents and also working hand in hand with their partner implementers to encourage transparency from them too. Only by being honest about where the gaps lie will we be able to make progress. 2. Skoll has always been a platform for enterprises, but even those that are more in the NGO camp seem to be flexing their enterprise muscle. The return on investment conversation hasn’t gone away. It’s still a high priority for funders. Alongside ROI there must be something unique in the implementation nonetheless. Innovation continues to be a big buzz word. 3. More diverse voices are being heard. In what was once a very closed community, Skoll has swelled to encapsulate many more voices and perspectives through their broader invite process and addition of Marmalade. It makes a huge difference. Highlighting diverse voices, perspectives and solutions will be critical to the future of this convening. What did others experience? What’s your top takeaway(s)?
