??Doing things a little differently back home… Every year, in our little semi-rural community, the voluntary fire station organises something a bit special for Christmas tree disposal. Families bring their trees down to the station, where they’re fed into a wood chipper by a local landscaper dressed as the Grinch, I mean why not, right. All donations go to support the local fire station, and it’s become a bit of a tradition. What I love about this isn’t just the quirky fun of it, but how it reflects something bigger, how small, simple efforts can have a meaningful impact. It’s a reminder that when a community comes together around a shared goal, even something ordinary like tree disposal can become an event, a fundraiser, and a memory. It makes me think about the work I do with data. Sometimes, we focus so much on the big, complex solutions, when often it’s the simple, consistent things, those smaller initiatives that grow over time, that make the real difference. Whether it’s transforming trees into mulch or transforming data into insight, the key is finding ways to bring people together around something valuable.

This holiday season, I want to encourage others to think about giving back to those in need. Several years ago, my family decided to shift our holiday traditions. We realized we had been blessed with everything we needed, and buying gifts just for the sake of filling the space under the tree didn’t feel right anymore. Too often, those gifts are quickly forgotten, tucked away, or even sold online. Instead, we chose to give in a different way. Each year, we make donations to organizations on behalf of our loved ones. It’s a way to spread joy and help those who need it most. Even if you can’t donate to the same organizations we do, I encourage you to find something local or meaningful to you and your family. The truth is, many people are facing challenges this year. You might feel like you’re “tightening your belt,” but remember, some don’t even have belts to tighten. If you inquire locally, you’ll often find that what’s needed most are the basics—socks, laundry detergent, body wash. These simple items can make a huge difference in someone’s life. Every small act of generosity leaves a lasting impact. And I promise, the feeling of helping someone in need far outweighs the fleeting joy of unwrapping another gift. Let’s make this season about giving in the truest sense of the word.

They say never work with animals or kids… we disagree! ?? ?? ? Our projects for commercial brands as well as for charities are shaped with the intent to treat kids like the decision-makers they are, allowing them to be heard and seen on their terms. It might sound cheesy, but ultimately our aim is to give kids a voice in culture, brand, and product development. ? ?? Yea it’s a five minute video, who watches those anymore! However, if you followed us over the course of Serve Week 2024 (The Ocho) this is an awesome wrap up and great work by the team. We try and use LinkedIn to open a window into our culture. And while Foundry Commercial isn’t perfect and we will always have work to do in pursuit of our standards, I think this is one of the things we get really right.
