Contactor vs. Relay: The Key Differences Simplified Like ?? comments ?? save ?? share ?? Think of relays and contactors as different types of light switches for your home: - Relays : Like a small bedside lamp switch. They're small, handle less power, and are used for everyday devices like fans or lights. - Contactors : Like a switch for a big chandelier. They're larger, handle much more power, and are used for heavy-duty equipment like large motors or industrial machinery. Quick Comparison - Purpose : Relays for small tasks; contactors for big, industrial tasks. - Size/Power : Relays are small and handle low power; contactors are large and handle high power. - Durability : Relays for light, frequent use; contactors for heavy, long-term use. - Safety : Relays have basic safety features; contactors have advanced safety features for high power. - Cost : Relays are cheaper and for home use; contactors are pricier and for industrial use. In short, relays control small devices; contactors control large machinery. Incorrect cable spacing! ?? Underfloor heating cables should not be too close or too far apart. Incorrect spacing can cause uneven heating and inefficiency. To avoid this issue, we have pre-spaced mesh electric underfloor heating, removing the faff. Just roll out the length you need, cut the mesh mat (NOT THE CABLE), flip and roll out the next length. All this while knowing that everything is spaced exactly to the requirements you need. With 100W/m2, 150W/m2 and 200W/m2 pre-spaced outputs available, giving you options for every room requirement.
