Climate for Kids - war, wet climate increases pathogens, their ranges, and their vectors! We travel and transport things and transport bugs also! Thawing permafrost and melting glaciers are also releasing some old viruses and bacteria. Chronic diseases like asthma and allergies are increasing because of warming, humidity and pollution. Infectious diseases are everywhere now - tropical diseases in midlatitudes. Malaria, dengue, Lyme, chikungunya, and so on. Allergy season arrives early and is longer. Floods bring diseases and droughts also cause people to use unsafe water and get sick! #climate #children #education #humanhealth #climatechange #pathogens #vectors #globalwarming #earlywarnings #adaptation #mitigation #netzero https://lnkd.in/gA7pHFAb

'The world is at a crossroads, as climate change threatens to reverse hard-won progress on child health and the world becomes a more dangerous place for children.' UNICEF’s timely new report calls on all of us to protect children from the impacts of climate change. That means: ? prioritising child health and well-being in climate policy ? developing child-friendly medicines for climate-sensitive diseases The report highlights that nearly half of all children live in countries that are extremely vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Only by addressing gaps in research and knowledge for diseases such as dengue can we make sure that safe, effective treatment will be available when children need it. ? ?? Did you know? * Climate change has a disproportionate impact on children and women. * From the moment of conception until they grow into adulthood, the health and development of children’s brains, lungs, and immune systems, are affected by their environment. * Children are also more likely to suffer from air pollution than adults, leading to life-threatening respiratory diseases. * Only?2.4 per cent??from climate funds support projects for children. Here's more on what is happening currently in #Pakistan https://lnkd.in/esjf3WCg #earthdayeveryday #climateaction

Climate change has profound effects on our health, such as heat-related illnesses and worsened respiratory conditions due to heightened air pollution. It also facilitates the spread of diseases like malaria and dengue fever through changing weather patterns. To address these challenges, we can focus on sustainable actions like reducing carbon emissions, advocating for clean energy, and implementing policies to shield vulnerable populations from extreme weather events. Furthermore, investing in public health infrastructure and education is crucial for helping communities adapt to climate change and reduce its negative health consequences. #CRDI #CLIMATECHANGE #WORLDHEALTHDAY #SDGs
