SpendCare, Inc.: Spend management platform for senior care providers, their caregivers, and clients. HelloLulo: Empowering WIC-eligible families to maximize their food benefits.: LegalEase: Affordable AI-powered platform helping individuals clear records of minor criminal offenses, opening up renewed employment opportunities. Latte: Platform assisting higher-ed administrators in running effective student career mentorship programs. Inkwire: Helping K-12 teachers seamlessly design rigorous project-based lessons. From legal tech to edtech, fintech to social impact, these startups are driving meaningful change. Their innovative approaches and dedication to solving real-world problems were truly inspiring. Last night it was inspiring to hear Heidi Jannenga, PT, DPT, ATC story at the PHX FWD event hosted by Gregg Scoresby and Bill Binch. Thank you for such a great event!!! It is exciting to see lots of founders and tech companies in the same room, all trying to make a difference in adopting tech into our lives! If you’d have asked me 1 year ago, would I attend a tech event…even though my expertise is in a completely different field? I would have said no. But it’s hard not to be excited by the tech space and learn about the various stories! Ever since the launch of our new startup SPRKLAB, my mindset on entrepreneurship has changed for the better. I’m more slammed than ever being involved in numerous companies but it’s extremely rewarding to build them. A few take aways from the event. 1. Taking on outside investment needs to be a fit for both founders and investors. 2. Building a SaaS company is hard but when taking on a great outside investor, that shares the same vision, it really can make a company take off! 3. Timing for all sides is extremely important. 4. Maintaining company culture requires attention through the ups and downs.

Had a great time attending my first Startup Grind London event this evening. Some takeaways from the investor panel discussion, - Startup with well defined ICPs have still been able to grow over the last 2 years, some over 200% YoY. - Solo founders with a good team that is equity incentivised can still work. Founding teams with more than 4 are less likely to raise at series A.? - In a pitch, VCs prioritize your ability to sell the business over their personal liking of the idea. You must demonstrate proof of your capability to sell to both customers and future investors. - The Gen AI sector holds promise but may lead to wasted investor funds. Investors look for startups utilizing Gen AI to enhance margins as a validation. - University spinout founders can struggle with commercialisation of idea/product.
