Day 1 of creating an entire app from scratch with my friend Archisman Saha. ?? So here's the Idea: An App to Help Indie Artists Find Temporary or Full-time Gigs. I found this problem statement from Chethan KVS. Why I picked this? Reason no. 1: Before becoming a designer I aspired to be a photographer. I left that because as an Introverted teenager, it was a nightmare to network with other people. And there wasn't any platform like Fiverr or LinkedIn to help me get clients. So I figured making the logo bigger might be easier for me. (It wasn't??) Reason 2: We were bored ??. So we will build this Project and share the entire process along the way. Luck ?? ?? I don't think we give luck enough credit when talking about what makes a freelancer successful. It’s understandable to try to minimize the role luck plays, because it’s a force that’s largely beyond our control, but I think it’s a mistake to ignore it entirely. Luck helped me a lot at the beginning of my career, and even though skill and effort were both factors as well, it’s important to acknowledge just how much of my success is a product of random chance. A few years ago, I landed my biggest project to date by responding to a Reddit post looking for a motion designer. If I hadn’t checked Reddit that day, or even that hour, I wouldn’t have landed that job. I also found another client through Upwork, which isn’t dissimilar to actually pawing through a haystack for a single needle. I’ve now reached the point in my career where I want to “make my own luck.” And even though there are lots of ways to position myself to be in the right place at the right time, the reality is that I still need some luck at the end of the day, no matter how awesome my work is. I think that considering how much of a factor luck plays in our careers makes some freelancers uncomfortable. Personally, I’d rather embrace the randomness and just cross my fingers for a good outcome with every interaction I have, while knowing that so much of what determines my success is beyond my control. I try my best to acknowledge luck. But maybe I’m way off base and you couldn’t disagree more! Let me know. #freelancing #motiondesign #luck

Posting here after a brief hiatus last month. February was an interesting month to say the least. Despite starting off with a ton of motivation, I found myself grappling with an existential crisis halfway through. It was quite the rollercoaster! ?? I will perhaps do a freelance review of February the next week but the reason for the hiatus was that I haven't had as many bookings as I hoped for this year and I was kind of disappointed. Anyway, I just wanted to get back and share a Formula 1 social media package exploration with you. Using the data from the 2023 Formula 1 season, I utilized After Effects and connected it to a JSON file to create a dynamic user experience. In this project, users can select the team and the grand prix round number, prompting the project to dynamically adjust various elements including: ? The driver names, numbers, color, and logo based on the team. ? The grid position after the qualifying and the qualifying times. ? The result position after the race. ? The total points of all the drivers after the selected Grand Prix with the position of the driver names updated in the comp based on their result. I wanted to push the boundaries of what's possible with expressions in After Effects with this project. Managing vast amounts of data and ensuring seamless interconnectivity between different elements posed both challenges but it was very exciting to see all of it work together in the end. So much more data can be added to the toolkit, like lap times, pit stops etc and make the production process really easy at the end of the grand prix. Task Lists are an interesting concept in #videogames . Like a laundry or shopping list it gives you an idea of what you are supposed to be doing. Quest Logs, Task Lists, Objectives, Activity Tracker, To-do list, etc. They have a lot of names but they all do the same thing; Tell the player what to do next. What is so interesting about the task list is that it in part dictates how the player is supposed to have fun with the game. Which under normal circumstances is rather annoying for a lot of players. Imagine someone comes over and tells you that you are playing something wrong. That's not especially motivating for continuous play is it? But when we play videogames we are more than willing to do what a task list tells us to do. It's a powerful reminder that when you make a task fun to do then there is a higher chance that a participant will do them fully willingly. Humans are inherently playful and to tap into that trait when doing anything will greatly increase overall feelings of happiness. We are happiest when we play. ----- ? I’m starting here again.?? I wasn’t active from last 10 months. No Posting? No Focus ? No Content? No Freelancing? Some of you may know that I was working on My Startup and focusing on Some Other tech Stacks DSA and Web Dev, The reason was to get out of the comfort Zone. I was doing well what I am Doing but I felt I was stuck at a limit. I wasn’t able to be more productive because of so many Confusions to figure out which way to Go. This was a difficult time an expensive decision but to get ahead in life and to achieve my goals, I needed to get out of my comfort zone.?? I'm fiddling with a small UI project in #unreal and I've now hit a wall. I need to be able to visualize individual sound bands in a particular way. While I have discovered that getting the audio bands is the easiest part of doing this (surprisingly, given that it's a technically hard thing to do) I struggle with the #shader part of the equation, as I always do. I have looked at many tutorials to find one that might get me in the right direction but I can't quite find the right one. I need to be able to visualize 8 bands as a flat 2D texture where each band is represented by a simple vertically expanding solid bar that only expands in the positive Y direction and isn't mirrored in the Negative Y direction as many of these often are. I have all the band values as normalized values from 0 to 1. Now, that might be simple enough to do. But the visualizer needs to angle those bars in a 160 degree arc from left to right as well.
