“This is happening because of gaps in a broken system which is unsafe and unsuitable for women. In many cases, we know that housing simply isn’t available for women when they are released.” We spoke to Vicky Spratt for The i paper this week: https://lnkd.in/e6-X-3jw #WomenInPrison #Housing

This is so utterly, completely and fundamentally wrong. Released from prison and given tents to live in? Outrageous.

How can this be so easily accepted as a way to live in one of the richest countries in the world? Those who are supposed to stand for their people in Parliament should hang their heads in shame!

Having a roof over your head should be part of the leavers plan. Whose job is that to ensure that this happens? Hope they sleep well at night!

No one should be forced to leave prison to be homeless or to live in a tent but I’m afraid this is the sad reality that we find is commonplace. Care leavers who are supposed to be given priority are not offered accommodation either in many cases. Another generous legacy from the Conservative Party that the Labour party need to fix.
