Question: What is EmployNV? Answer: EmployNV is the statewide brand for Nevada’s public workforce system. It includes the state’s website for workforce services, and a network of American Job Centers that help job seekers and employers with no-cost #employment and #training. EmployNV Career Hubs assist job seekers, EmployNV Business Hubs help businesses, and EmployNV Youth Hubs serve young adults ages 16 to 24. Services at the hubs are available through Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation and Nevada’s two local workforce development boards, Nevadaworks and Workforce Connections. This blog is a long time coming! In it, I talk about one of the biggest projects on which I worked during my first year at CityWorks. I really couldn't be prouder of what WE accomplished together, and what it means for residents of DC. Please take a read, share feedback, and spread widely!

As thought provoking Friday's go, today has been up there ... across the UK, 21% of our workforce are economically inactive and looking more locally, 13% of South #yorkshire children are growing up in a household where someone doesn't work. Wellbeing is still our biggest barrier to employment. Today, I was at New York Stadium in #rotherham at the 'Pathways to Work' event where our region explored ambitious reform towards supporting our most vulnerable people back into work. Brilliant session Fliss Miller and the teams at South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, building on the fantastic results already seen in the Landmark Report in #barnsley. Some starting points from me that we can all get behind; ?? We MUST start hiring for skills, not continuing our over reliance on qualifications. ?? Stop ignoring #risk and start planning for it - embed rather than sampling new ways to tap into #talent. ?? Start upskilling at a lower level, with relatable role models given the autonomy and trust to onboard neurodiverse job seekers. ?? Do more to place #jobs in context, stop selection processes where we home in on what people can't do, in favour of developing what they CAN do. ?? Jobs are flexible, why isn't hiring? ?? Prevention is better than cure: what could we be doing at an earlier age to minimise post-16 employment problems, there's always this ?? https://lnkd.in/eXzgXy_A We have to bring community with us, stepping out of comfort zones to address issues head on. Improving the workforce participation rate is evident in the strategic initiatives that the state of Alabama has been putting into place. AL.com has published an article that details the great strides that the state has made, while being honest about areas that still need improvement. Alabama has been the underdog in education, workforce and economic development, but not anymore. The state has jumped from last place to 14th in the country for its workforce development efforts. A catalyst for that jump has been the launch of initiatives like the Alabama Talent Triad. By recognizing the need to bridge education and recruitment gaps, Alabama is creating a more competitive job market. The Alabama Talent Triad is an essential piece of the puzzle, connecting employers, job seekers, learners and education and training providers in a new way, scaling workforce readiness.
