I was priced out of my own office building. Although there’s more than 100k square feet of empty office space in the neighborhood, we were maxed out of space in our building. Because of the high-demand, it just made more financial sense to rent out my own office space in the building and rent a smaller office elsewhere. When you go out of your way to create a unique space, people notice. It’s the little things that make a big difference to the ideal tenants. Co-working & WiFi Lounge is the first amenity listed on the promo signage for this under construction ?? condo in downtown Hamilton. So, what does this actually mean for the future residents? Here's how the developer describes it: "The 5th floor Coworking & WiFi Lounge with an eclectic vibe, groupings of comfortable seating and plenty of natural light will offer the right atmosphere whether you’re meeting a client, pulling together a presentation or studying for that online course." Sounds nice, right? But according to the renderings (??), it basically means open space with some chairs, tables, and windows. And of course WiFi, some sort/speed of WiFi. So, I'm wondering, to those who use co-working spaces or those who operate these spaces, does this actually sound like a co-working space to you? Because to me it sounds more like the rebranding of a generic common area. This is not to say that it won't be used or useful, just that it's not really a co-working space in more than the fact that people will likely use it to do work in proximity to each other. By the sounds of it there won't be any service or support, equipment like a printer, private office space to book, call booths, or importantly coffee ?. They are also promoting a cafe on street level and I wouldn't be surprised if that space becomes more popular for working, while the Co-working and WiFi lounge space becomes an overflow party room and hang out type space. So, all considered is this the type of amenity that would be attractive to you as a condo purchaser?
